Job summary

Tata Consultancy Services in Irving, Texas, seeks an experienced Senior IBM AIX and Power Systems administrator to lead enterprise-scale operations. The role covers PowerVM, VIOS, HMC, LPAR, NIM, and PowerHA, with PowerVC administration and virtualization automation.

You will design and support Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization, perform upgrades, patches, tuning, and security hardening, and drive automation to improve reliability and efficiency.

Qualifications

• IBM AIX Administration with 10+ years of experience.
• IBM Power Systems, PowerVM, VIOS, HMC, LPAR expertise.
• Red Hat OpenShift & OpenShift Virtualization experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead the administration, maintenance, and Level 3 support of enterprise IBM AIX, IBM Power Systems, PowerVM, VIOS, HMC, LPAR, NIM, and PowerHA environments.
• Administer and troubleshoot IBM PowerVC, including VM provisioning, lifecycle management, capacity optimization, resource monitoring, and virtualization automation.
• Design, deploy, configure, and support Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization platforms for modernizing VM workloads.
• Perform advanced system administration activities: AIX upgrades, patching, performance tuning, security hardening, capacity planning, automation, root cause analysis.
• Manage enterprise storage across SAN, NPIV, Fibre Channel, multipathing.
• Develop automation with Shell Scripting, Ansible, Python, and OpenShift CLI.
• Lead migrations involving AIX workloads, PowerVM, PowerVC, and OpenShift virtualization.
• Collaborate with infra, network, storage, cloud, security, and apps teams for resilient, scalable solutions.
• Monitor platform availability, performance, capacity, and security; ensure SLAs and change-management.
• Troubleshoot production issues, perform root-cause analysis, implement permanent corrective actions.
• Provide Level 3 technical leadership, mentor engineers, support reviews, drive best practices.
• Create and maintain docs, architecture diagrams, SOPs, runbooks.

• Collaborate with infrastructure, network, storage, cloud, security, and application teams to design and implement resilient, scalable, and highly available solutions.
• Monitor platform availability, performance, capacity, and security while ensuring compliance with established SLAs, operational standards, and change-management processes.
• Troubleshoot complex production issues, perform detailed root cause analysis, and implement preventive and permanent corrective actions.
• Provide Level 3 technical leadership, mentor junior engineers, support technical reviews, and drive operational best practices.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, standard operating procedures, troubleshooting guides, and operational runbooks.
