Job summary

Kearfott Corporation, based in Pine Brook, NJ, seeks an Airworthiness & Certification Engineer to plan, coordinate, and execute airworthiness activities across airborne systems. You will work with multiple engineering domains to gather evidence, manage certification plans, and ensure compliance with DO-178C and DO-254 standards.

The role emphasizes cross-disciplinary collaboration, lifecycle data management, and interaction with certification authorities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Electrical, Computer, Software, Systems, or related engineering.
• Engineering experience in safety-critical aerospace products, including systems, software, hardware, verification/validation, or certification.
• Direct exposure to airworthiness or design‑assurance activities in an aerospace program.
• Experience with RTCA/DO‑178C, RTCA/DO‑254, ARP4754A/B, or ARP4761.
• Experience creating lifecycle data to demonstrate compliance (requirements, design data, verification evidence, traceability, etc.).
• Understanding of requirements-based development, verification, and traceability for safety-critical systems.
• Ability to review technical documentation across disciplines to identify requirements, compliance evidence, gaps, and risks.
• Strong technical communication and documentation skills.
• U.S. citizen and able to obtain/maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute airworthiness and certification activities for airborne systems and products.
• Identify certification requirements and provide required compliance evidence based on applicable Certification Basis.
• Develop and maintain certification plans, matrices, verification evidence, lifecycle data, and documentation.
• Coordinate certification activities across systems, software, hardware, safety, quality, CM, suppliers, and programs.
• Support preparation and maintenance of ACCRs and other certification artifacts.
• Review lifecycle data for traceability, completeness, and compliance.
• Support certification reviews, audits, inspections, and interactions with authorities or DERs.
• Identify certification gaps and risks and drive corrective actions with engineering teams.
• Support MBSE and digital engineering activities related to airworthiness.
• Contribute to improvements in processes, tools, and templates for certification.
