Coordinates the safety, security, and daily operations of the airports in the Okaloosa County Airports system.
Education, Training and Experience: Associate’s Degree in Aviation Management, Operations Management or related field supplemented by a minimum of two (2) years in a commercial service and/or general aviation airport operations related field or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge skills and abilities. Knowledge of FAA Federal Aviation Regulations, Advisory Circulars and TSA regulations and policies pertaining to commercial and general aviation preferred. Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint preferred.
Licenses and/or Certifications: Requires a valid driver license. Must be able to obtain and maintain an airport issued Secure Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge.
Physical Requirements: Must be physically able to operate a variety of hand held and electrical equipment and tools. Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds to constantly lift, carry, push and pull or otherwise move objects. Must be able to perform manual tasks and remain on feet for extended periods of time. Physical demands are in excess of those for sedentary work.
Language Ability: Requires the ability to communicate effectively in English, including ability to convey, record and exchange information, to explain procedures, to give, receive and follow verbal and written instructions. Requires the ability to read a variety of moderately complex records, policy and procedure manuals, codes, etc. Requires the ability to prepare forms and reports using prescribed formats.
Intelligence: Requires the ability to apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions; to interpret a variety of technical instructions in written, mathematical or diagrammatic form; to make independent judgments in absence of supervision; to acquire knowledge of topics related to primary occupation. Requires the application of principles of influence systems and synthesis functions.
Numerical Aptitude: Requires the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide; calculate decimals and percentages.
Interpersonal Temperament: Requires the ability to tactfully and effectively interact with the public and with co-workers. Must be able to perform under stress when confronted with emergencies or tight deadlines.
