Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Management, Safety, Emergency Management, Engineering, Construction Safety, Industrial Safety or related field.
• Three (3) years of experience in Safety (Occupational Health, System Safety, Industrial Safety, Risk Assessment and/or Loss Prevention) or Airport/Airfield Operations or Management.
• Equivalencies: high school diploma + 7 years experience; associate degree + 5 years; bachelor’s in non-specified field + 5 years; master’s + 1 year.

Responsibilities

• Manages, coordinates, trains, and evaluates safety staff; directs and coordinates safety activities for airside and landside operations.
• Identifies and determines procedures to ensure compliance, enhance safety initiatives, and supports safety programs.
• Trains personnel in using protective equipment and facilitating compliance with safety regulations.
• Plans and administers safety program budget and liaises with local, state and federal agencies.
• Remains current on guidelines, regulatory changes, and training; monitors implementation of updated regulations.
• Responds to compliance issues; provides guidance to resolve non-compliance and regulatory adjustments.
• Attends meetings and public speaking engagements to communicate safety issues.
