Job summary

City of Frederick's Frederick Municipal Airport is seeking an Assistant Airport Manager to assist with daily operations, maintenance, and administrative tasks. You will help plan budgets, oversee staff and contractors, ensure FAA and COMAR compliance, and support public relations at the airport.

Ideal candidates have airport management experience, knowledge of safety practices, and the ability to coordinate with FAA, MAA, and city officials.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business management, aviation management, public administration or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
• Five (5) years of experience in airport management (civil or military), aviation management, facility maintenance management, or equivalent experience.
• Familiarity with FAA regulations, two-way radio aviation communications, or experience working around active aircraft operations preferred.
• Two (2) years of direct experience working or operating in an active airfield environment in the last 5 years.

Responsibilities

• Assists and occasionally leads the daily management and control of airport facilities to ensure safe, secure, and continuous operations.
• Directs, oversees and participates in development of airport operations and maintenance work plans and supervision of assigned personnel.
• Oversees development of policies, procedures and schedules in line with industry best practices.
• Conducts and oversees inspection of airport facilities for maintenance, safety and cleanliness.
• Plans and coordinates special aviation events/activities at the airport.
• Maintains and updates airport records, budgets, NOTAMS, grant administration, and invoices.
• Direct supervisor of the Airport Operations Coordinator positions.
• Monitors compliance with Minimum Operating Standards and Regulations; coordinates with FAA/MAA and other agencies.
