Job summary

Fulton County Airport is hiring for an Airfield Maintenance Worker in the Public Works Department to perform airfield grounds maintenance and preventative services. The role requires adherence to county policies and the ability to follow safety protocols while working near active aircraft.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes hand and power tools to maintain airfield runways, taxiways, light lanes, and parking lots.
• Repairs and maintains equipment.
• Performs preventative maintenance including replacing filters, cleaning fans, and checking for refrigerator leaks.
• Maintains runway, taxiway, and ramp areas and repairs Runway End Identifier Lights (REIL).
• Communicates with air traffic control technicians via two-way radio while around moving aircraft.

Purpose of Classification:

The purpose of this classification is to perform defined duties related to airfield maintenance at the Fulton County Airport, including maintaining the airfield grounds and providing preventative maintenance services within the airport. Airfield Maintenance Worker is distinguished from Airfield Maintenance Supervisor in that the former does not supervise assigned staff but performs routine airfield maintenance duties, whereas the latter supervises assigned staff and oversees daily maintenance operations activities.

The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.

Utilizes hand and power tools to maintain airfield runways, taxiway entrances, light lanes, and parking lots.

Repairs and maintains equipment.

Performs preventative maintenance within the airport, including replacing filters, cleaning fans, and checking and repairing refrigerator leaks.

Performs runway, taxiway, and ramp maintenance, including maintaining and repairing Runway End Identifier Lights (REIL).

Communicates with air traffic control technicians via two-way radio while working around moving aircraft.

Maintains and troubleshoots the medium and high intensities of the airfield navigational light system.
