Job summary

The City of Cleveland is seeking an Airport Heavy Duty Mechanic to inspect, repair, and service trucks and equipment over 20,000 GVW at the airport facility. Under supervision, you will diagnose, adjust and maintain a diverse fleet, ensuring safe operation and compliance with fleet policies.

Required are a High School Diploma or GED (trade school preferred), at least two years of full-time heavy equipment repair experience, an Ohio driver's license (CDL preferred), your own tools, and the

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; trade school training preferred.
• Two years of full-time repair and maintenance experience on heavy equipment 20,000+ GVW.
• Must have the appropriate tools to perform duties.
• Valid Ohio driver’s license required; CDL preferred.
• Ability to lift and carry at least 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Maintain fleet vehicles over 20,000 GVW including cars, trucks and heavy equipment.
• Perform routine and preventive maintenance on all equipment.
• Repair or replace malfunctioning parts and systems (brakes, belts, pumps, transmissions, etc).
• Test specific parts and systems to ensure proper function.
• Identify mechanical problems via inspection or diagnostics.
• Plan repairs and establish repair timelines; conduct safe test drives.
• Maintain records of activities and keep tools in safe condition.
• Adhere to safety procedures and participate in emergency readiness.
