Job summary

Rural Metro Fire at John Glenn International Airport seeks an experienced Airport Firefighter Driver-Operator. You will drive and operate emergency vehicles, perform firefighting tasks, provide EMS care, and support training to maintain readiness.

The role requires CPR and NIMS certifications, an Ohio driver's license, and the ability to pass annual physical, written, and agility tests while coordinating with the Airport's operations team. This is a critical on-site position at the Airport.

Qualifications

• CPR certification is required.
• NIMS courses 100/200/700/800 required, future courses may be added.
• Ohio driver's license is required.
• Annual physical exam by a licensed physician.
• Annual written, skills, and physical agility tests.
• Proficient with Windows-based computers and MS Word/Excel/PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Drive and operate emergency response vehicles during incidents.
• Operate fire pumps and suppression equipment.
• Perform rescue, firefighting, and salvage duties.
• Provide information and directions to visitors at the Airport.
• Maintain fire apparatus and equipment in good condition.
• Communicate with Battalion Chief/Lieutenant during emergencies.
• Select proper firefighting tools to control/ extinguish fires.
• Perform search and rescue operations as needed.
• Provide emergency medical care during emergencies.
• Conduct inspections of airport facilities for fire hazards.
• Record inspections and maintenance activities.
• Participate in training programs to meet annual EMT credits.
• May assume a position in the Incident Command System.
• Assist in training sessions as assigned.
• Keep station and surroundings clean and orderly.
