Job summary

San Diego County Regional Airport Authority is seeking an Associate Environmental Specialist to ensure stormwater and environmental compliance across the airport lifecycle, from design to post-construction. The role emphasizes field inspections, plan reviews, and coordination with contractors and agencies.

The ideal candidate has a strong regulatory background, the ability to engage diverse stakeholders, and a commitment to sustainability across capital projects and operations.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of environmental regulations (CA CGP, MS4, California Industrial General Permit, dewatering permits)
• Ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders (construction crews, regulatory agencies, tenants, contractors)
• Experience reviewing plans, inspections, and ensuring real-time regulatory compliance

Responsibilities

• Review project plans for capital, tenant improvement, and major maintenance projects.
• Attend pre-design and pre-construction meetings and monitor field changes for compliance.
• Conduct field inspections and coordinate with contractors to meet permit requirements.
• Develop and maintain environmental reports, documents, and procedures.
• Lead or assist in environmental training and outreach activities.
• Coordinate with internal teams and external agencies on environmental program issues.
