Job summary

City and County of San Francisco is seeking a journey-level Airport Electrician to maintain and repair SFO’s high and low voltage electrical systems. You will support testing, troubleshooting of critical infrastructure, and provide guidance to tenants and contractors while ensuring compliance with safety standards.

The role requires completion of an electrician apprenticeship, two years of journey-level experience in HV systems, and a valid CA driver's license.

Qualifications

Completion of a recognized electrician's apprenticeship program.
Two years of verifiable journey-level electrician experience in high voltage industrial power transmission and distribution systems.
Valid California driver's license.
Substitution: additional journey-level electrician experience can substitute for the apprenticeship on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

Maintains, operates and adjusts electrical primary power substations 2,300–12,000 volts.
Maintains high voltage power lines and isolates faulty sections.
Installs watt-hour meter systems and transformers and related components.
Maintains 5,000-volt airfield runway lighting system and related equipment.
Maintains and repairs electric motors and control apparatus for pumping drainage water and sewage.
Maintains standby engine generators for emergency power and checks for outages in tenant spaces.
Collects data for engineer expansion projects and coordinates with tenants/contractors.
Inspects completed work for compliance with airport standards and requirements.
