Job summary

Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority is seeking an on-site Construction Inspector – Building/General to perform inspections and monitor construction activities at MWAA projects, including CCP and COMIP funded works at IAD and DCA. The role ensures compliance with plans, codes, and safety rules, producing daily reports and supporting change orders with cost estimates.

Qualifications

• Seven years of progressively responsible experience monitoring, coordinating, and inspecting a mix of Building, Airport Terminal, Utility, Civil, and General Construction projects.
• Knowledge of and ability to apply key regulatory requirements of the building trades and generally accepted practices of the construction industry.
• Experience monitoring quality control processes and ensuring work meets contract specifications, industry standards, and project design intent.
• Expertise using Bluebeam Revu for document and site management documentation.
• Expertise using office productivity software to draft documents, prepare spreadsheets, perform engineering calculations and statistical analyses, prepare presentations, prepare reports, communicate via email, conduct Internet research, etc.
• Ability to perform complex analyses of data and information and make recommendations.
• Ability to speak and write effectively.

Responsibilities

• Inspects general building components and structure.
• Monitors contractor’s progress to ensure activities, milestones, and completion dates are achieved on schedule.
• Collects information and draft documents for management action.
• Reviews and validates payment requests to ensure compliance with actual work in place and the contract specifications.
• Works with engineers and architects, consultants, and MWAA staff to resolve conflicts and concerns.
• Verifies materials and equipment delivered to the construction site comply with requirements.
