Job summary

Boeing is hiring an Airplane Electronic Engineer (SME) to join the 787 Electronic Systems team in North Charleston, SC. You will lead requirements, architecture, and validation efforts for avionics and network systems across the lifecycle of commercial aircraft.

Ideal candidates have 14+ years of aerospace experience and extensive knowledge of DO-254/DO-178 and ARP-4754 standards, with leadership experience and a proactive problem-solving mindset.

Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is hiring for Airplane Electronic Engineer (SME) to join the 787 Electronic Systems (Avionics, Integrated Modular Avionics, Network Systems, & Electrical Subsystems) team located in North Charleston, South Carolina.

As a member of the Electronic Systems team at BSC, you will develop and support these systems and their components in a sustaining production environment. Project examples include addressing design obsolescence, developing product improvements, supporting production build and test, supporting new customer introduction, and supporting the in-service fleet.

Position Responsibilities
  • Leads work with customers to develop and document complex electronic and electrical system requirements.
  • Leads and coordinates work to analyze and translate requirements into system architecture, hardware and software designs and interface specifications.
  • Leads work to test and validate to ensure system designs meet operational and functional requirements.
  • Oversees the team that monitors supplier performance to ensure system integration and compliance with requirements. Solves problems concerning and provides other support of fielded hardware and software over the entire product lifecycle.
  • Researches technology advances for potential application to company business needs.
  • Makes recommendations for technology investments.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus in Electrical, Mechanical or Aeronautical), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
  • 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with DO-254 Airborne Electronic Hardware Development & Qualification
  • Experience with DO-297 Integrated Modular Avionics Development & Qualification
  • Experience with ARP-4754 Systems Development & Qualification
  • Experience with DO-178 Airborne Software Development & Qualification
  • Engineering Requirement definition / verification
  • Commercial Aerospace certification experience
  • Experience w/ ARINC 429 & 664
  • Successful track record of mentorship and formal/informal leadership
