Flying Food Group LLC is seeking a hardworking Porter with sanitation experience for our high-volume facility. The role involves cleaning, sanitizing, and organizing food-contact surfaces in cold storage areas, while supporting production teams with safe sanitation practices.

Qualifications

  • Previous porter, dishwasher, or sanitation experience in food manufacturing or commercial kitchens preferred.

  • Reliable attendance and punctuality.

Responsibilities

  • Wash, sanitize, and organize trays, utensils, containers, and food contact surfaces used in fresh or frozen food preparation.
  • Work regularly in cold storage, cold production rooms, and freezer environments, maintaining productivity and safety standards.
  • Clean and maintain racks, carts, bins, shelving units, and floors per cleaning schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with sanitation protocols specific to fresh and/or frozen food handling.
  • Follow safety procedures related to working in low temperatures and proper work gear.
  • Dispose of waste, food scraps, and packaging materials in designated areas.
  • Assist in deep cleaning projects of refrigeration and walk-in storage areas.
  • Use cleaning chemicals and tools per guidelines and safety instructions.
  • Monitor and report equipment issues, temperature fluctuations, or safety concerns.
  • Support kitchen and sanitation teams by restocking tools and equipment.

Job Description

Hardworking and dependable Porter with hands-on experience in maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in fresh or frozen food storage and prep areas within high-volume food manufacturing. Skilled in working in cold or warm environments, operating industrial dishwashing and cleaning equipment, and supporting production teams through timely and safe sanitation practices. Committed to maintaining a hygienic, organized, and safe work environment that meets airline food safety standards.

Essential Functions
  • Wash, sanitize, and organize trays, utensils, containers, and food contact surfaces used in fresh or frozen food preparation
  • Work regularly in cold storage, cold production rooms, and freezer environments, maintaining productivity and safety standards
  • Clean and maintain required racks, carts, bins, shelving units, and floors in accordance with cleaning schedules
  • Ensure compliance with sanitation protocols specific to fresh and or frozen food handling.
  • Follow safety procedures related to working in low temperatures, including proper work/cold-weather gear
  • Dispose of waste, food scraps, and packaging materials appropriately in designated areas
  • Assist in deep cleaning projects of refrigeration and walk-in storage areas
  • Use appropriate cleaning chemicals and tools per guidelines, safety instructions, and protocol
  • Monitor and report any equipment issues, temperature fluctuations, or safety concerns to supervisors
  • Support kitchen and sanitation teams by ensuring all assigned area tools and equipment are cleaned and restocked.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

This position is in a food manufacturing facility and involves working in areas that may be cold, hot, humid, or noisy. The environment includes exposure to strong food odors, allergens, and potentially working with equipment. Employees may need to follow strict sanitation and safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Work may take place on wet or slippery surfaces. Schedules may include overtime, weekends, or holidays based on operational needs.?

Physical Demands
  • Standing/Walking: Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods, often on concrete or other hard surfaces.
  • Lifting/Carrying: May lift, carry, push, or pull objects up to 25 lbs. (occasionally more with assistance or equipment).?
  • Repetitive Motions: Use of hands and arms for repetitive tasks such as packing, sorting, or operating machinery.?
  • Sensory Requirements: Must be able to evaluate food products, detect odors, and visually inspect food for quality and safety.
  • Reaching/Bending: Frequent reaching overhead, bending, stooping, and crouching throughout the shift.?
  • Manual Dexterity: Use of fine motor skills for tasks requiring precision and coordination, such as operating controls or using smaller tools.?
  • Visual Requirements: Ability to visually inspect products, labels, or equipment for quality and safety standards.?
  • Auditory Requirements: Ability to hear alarms, machine sounds, and verbal communication in a noisy environment.?
  • Protective Equipment: Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), which may include but not be limited to hairnets, gloves, masks, and/or safety shoes, as required by food safety standards and warehouse protocol.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Standard hours and days of work may vary based on production schedules and operational needs, including flight schedules. Evening, weekends, and holiday work may be required, as well as occasional overtime.?
