Job summary

Electra Aero is seeking an Airframe Design Engineer to help design, integrate, and develop primary and secondary structures for the EL9 hybrid-electric aircraft. The role involves supporting structural deliverables, collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams, and ensuring performance, safety, manufacturability, and certification goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
• 2+ years of experience in aircraft structural or airframe design, integration, and development.
• Strong understanding of airframe structural design for metallic and composite components.
• Experience across conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design phases.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD tools (Siemens NX or CATIA).
• Familiarity with FAA Part 23/25 structural certification requirements.
• Knowledge of loads, stress, and fatigue principles and their design influence.
• Experience creating aerospace drawings and configuration-controlled deliverables.

Responsibilities

• Support design and development of primary and secondary airframe structures (fuselage, wing, empennage, landing gear).
• Assist with concept to detailed design and certification tasks.
• Work with structural requirements, materials, and design criteria for airworthiness.
• Collaborate with aerodynamics, propulsion, systems, manufacturing, stress, and certification teams.
• Produce CAD models, drawings, ICDs, and design reports.
• Conduct trade studies on materials, configurations, and production methods.
• Support structural analysis with stress engineers on static, dynamic, fatigue issues.
• Participate in design reviews and mentor junior engineers.
• Coordinate with suppliers on manufacturability and issue resolution.
• Contribute to process improvements in structural design methods.
