Job summary

THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a AIRFIELD OPERATIONS OFFICER, Position Description Number T7090000 and is part of the PA State Army Aviation Office, National Guard. 1 or more Position(s) may be hired against this Announcement.

Key Responsibilities

As a Airfield Operations Officer, GS-2150-12, you will plan the work to be accomplished by subordinate civilian personnel; sets and adjust short-term priorities, and prepare schedules for completion of work; assigns work to subordinates based on priorities, selective consideration of the difficulty, requirements of assignments, and the capabilities of employees; evaluates work performance of subordinates; gives advice, counsel, or instruction to employees on both work and administrative matters; interviews candidates for positions in the unit; recommends appointment, promotion, or reassignment; hears and resolves complaints from employees, referring group grievances and more serious unresolved complaints to a higher level supervisor or manager; effects minor disciplinary measures, such as warnings and reprimands, recommending other action in more serious cases; approves leave; identifies developmental and training needs of employees, providing or arranging for needed development and training; finds ways to improve production or increase the quality of the work directed; and develops performance standards for the personnel in the Unit.

Interpret guidelines provided by installation, higher headquarters and other DOD agencies, assesses airfield mission requirements, establishes command goals, and makes decisions on how to accomplish objectives.

Coordinate the scheduling of airfield activities with tenant and transient unit commands using the airfield, and coordinates with the Corps of Engineers and Directorate of Public Works or Construction and Facilities Management Officer concerning problems with facilities including long-range construction plans for the airfield.

Administer and monitor the maintenance program for all assigned equipment and is the hand receipt holder and maintains property accountability for equipment. Perform other duties as assigned.
