Job summary

City of Abilene is seeking an Airport Operations Officer Trainee to train for and perform Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) duties, supporting airside, landside, and terminal operations on nights, weekends, and holidays. Ensure compliance with 14 CFR Parts 77 and 139, CFR Part 1542, and all related regulations.

The role includes inspecting facilities, maintaining NOTAMs, operating ARFF vehicles, training in Airport Security, and coordinating with police and fire departments.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• ARFF 80-hour certification within 180 days of employment.
• Basic Structural Firefighter Certificate from Texas fire protection standards.

Responsibilities

• Inspect airside, landside, and terminal areas for safety and security per CFR 14 CFR 139 and NFPA 407.
• Operate ARFF vehicles and firefighting equipment; respond to emergencies.
• Train for Airport Driver’s, Airport Security, and Authorized Signatory procedures.
