Job summary

City of Pittsfield is seeking an Airport Maintenance Worker to conduct daily airfield inspections, identify hazards, and ensure compliance with FAA regulations. You will issue NOTAMs and support snow removal efforts while coordinating safety across all movement and non-movement areas.

The role requires operating a range of heavy equipment, performing basic maintenance on equipment and facilities, and maintaining lighting and signage on the field.

Qualifications

• High School Education or Equivalent.
• Two years of acceptable experience operating heavy equipment.
• Ability to meet FAA inspection standards and NOTAM procedures.
• Electrical experience is a plus and electrician licenses are welcome.
• Ability to obtain and maintain required licenses and certifications (FID/LTC, CDL, various licenses).

Responsibilities

• Perform airfield inspections to ensure FAA compliance and remove aviation hazards.
• Issue and record NOTAMs per procedures.
• Monitor construction and fueling operations for safety on all areas.
• Maintain airfield lighting, signage, and related equipment.
• Operate and maintain heavy equipment (plows, loaders, backhoes, etc.).
• General labor tasks: loading, trenching, mowing, snow removal, etc.
• Ensure airport gates, fencing, and access control security.
• Coordinate Snow Removal Team operations per airport snow plan.
• Assist in vegetation management and enforcing airport security rules.
• Follow instructions and communicate clearly in a technical environment.
• Hours vary; per-diem coverage during vacations, shortages, or snow events.
