Job summary

The Richmond County Sheriff's Office is seeking an Airport Grounds Maintenance worker to keep airside/landside grounds, ramps, and runways clean and safe at Augusta Regional Airport. You will operate heavy equipment, perform daily inspections, and maintain landscaping while coordinating with Air Traffic Control as needed.

Qualified applicants have a high school diploma or GED and at least five years of landscaping or groundskeeping experience; a valid driver’s license and the ability to pass

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• Five (5) years of landscaping, groundskeeping or horticulture experience.
• Knowledge of power lawn equipment and fertilizer/pesticide application.
• Ability to operate a large tractor mower and related tools.
• Good written and oral communication; able to work independently.
• Must pass background and security checks; possess valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Maintains lawns with mowers and tractors, edges, weeds, and sod as needed.
• Keeps airside/landside areas, ramps, and runways clean and safe for operation.
• Performs daily inspections and preventive maintenance of grounds equipment.
• Plants and maintains flowerbeds and shrubbery; applies fertilizer and mulch.
• Operates equipment safely and coordinates with Air Traffic Control as required.
