Job summary

Archer Aviation in San Jose, CA is seeking exceptional engineers to join our mission to redefine aerospace and defense. You will design and lead the complete layout of aircraft structures and subsystems, ensuring manufacturability and optimal integration across disciplines.

A bachelor’s in mechanical or aerospace engineering and 5+ years of full-vehicle systems integration experience are required, along with CAD (NX preferred), 2D drawings and GD&T.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical/aerospace engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of full-vehicle level systems integration and interface management experience in aerospace or automotive.
• Experience generating Bills of Materials (BOM) and managing change control processes.
• Proficiency in CAD modeling (NX preferred), 2D drawings, tolerance analysis, and GD&T.
• Experience with large assembly models (100–1000+ components) and in-context modeling.
• Understanding of mass budgeting, configuration management, and systems integration.
• Strong communication and organization to coordinate cross-functional technical initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and engineering layout of aircraft structures and subsystem integration.
• Own zonal management of the digital mock-up and routing envelopes.
• Manage interface requirement models and master geometry for large aircraft zones.
• Maintain aircraft systems configuration management and BOMs.
• Collaborate with manufacturing to ensure seamless integration.
• Drive trade studies to optimize system integration and mass efficiency.
• Support test planning, data analysis, and design improvements.
• Lead cross-functional reviews and supplier qualification activities.
