The Aircraft Systems Avionics Engineer (Computer Systems and Software Airworthiness) will support the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center customer at WPAFB, OH. The Program Office provides planning and acquisition of long-term, cost-effective U.S. Air Force capabilities within an Integrated Product Team structure. The candidate will collaborate closely with customers, other contractors, and interface with major defense contractors. Most work will be performed at the customer workspace, with some travel expected, up to 20%.

Responsibilities
  • Support development and review of documentation per DoDI 5000.02.
  • Assist with execution of USAF Airworthiness processes per MIL-HDBK-516 and AFLCSE & OSS&E processes.
  • Support requirements development, allocation, and verification.
  • Review and evaluate weapon system design, analyses, and verification reports.
  • Gather and develop technical data for program briefs.
  • Participate in program meetings, working groups, and reviews.
  • Analyze equipment and software deficiencies; recommend corrective actions.
  • Assist in development of contract modifications and updates.
  • Support source selections as a technical advisor.
  • Familiarity with tactical Datalinks and aircraft communication systems.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant DoD Avionics experience.
  • At least 2 years on a recognized ACAT I program as a subsystem lead engineer.
  • Experience designing, developing, integrating, and testing avionics systems to meet performance and airworthiness standards.
  • Experience assessing hardware/software/system qualification per MIL-HDBK-516, section 15.
Desired Qualifications
  • Knowledge of software/system architectures, integration processes, fault tolerance, and safety critical functions.
  • Experience with SIL facilities, system verification, OFP processes, and software/hardware compatibility.
Education Requirements
  • ABET-accredited bachelor's degree in engineering.
  • Master's degree preferred.
Clearance Requirements

Active Top Secret clearance within the last 5 years, based on T5 or T5R investigation. U.S. citizenship required.
