Job summary

Aery Aviation LLC is seeking a Stress Engineer/Analyst (Contract to Perm) to perform structural analyses and substantiation for aircraft modifications and repairs at our Newport News facility. You will develop strength, fatigue, and damage-tolerance evaluations, and prepare substantiation packages for regulatory and customer approval.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience performing structural analyses and developing engineering substantiation for aircraft structures or aerospace products.
  • Knowledge of structural mechanics, fatigue, damage tolerance, vibration, and analytical methods.
  • Experience preparing analyses, stress reports, and compliance documentation.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills; proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work in office and aircraft hangar environments.
  • U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident status.

Responsibilities

  • Perform structural analyses and develop substantiation demonstrating compliance with regulatory, customer, and airworthiness requirements for aircraft modifications, repairs, and certification programs.
  • Develop analyses including static strength, fatigue, damage tolerance, vibration, and thermal evaluations to support design decisions.
  • Prepare engineering reports, stress reports, margin of safety calculations, and supporting data for regulatory approval.
  • Review designs to verify structural integrity, manufacturability, and compliance with requirements.
  • Develop load paths, free-body diagrams, models, and assumptions supporting substantiation activities.
  • Coordinate with engineers and external stakeholders to resolve structural issues and support program execution.
  • Support certification artifacts, substantiation, test plans, and documentation for regulatory and customer approval.
  • Provide technical support during fabrication, installation, testing, and modification activities.
  • Participate in design reviews and advise on structural integrity, safety, performance, and compliance.
  • Maintain analyses and documentation under configuration control according to company standards.
