Position Summary:
Part of the 145 Repair Station, the Aviation Quality Control Inspectors will use various inspection and testing method to verify aircraft articles conform to the manufacturer’s specifications including condition, operational limits, and Company’s Quality Management System. Responsible for ensuring company compliance with quality procedures, customer requirements, federal and other government agency regulations.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform in-depth quality verification using various inspection methods to determine airworthiness of a product for receiving, in process, final, and return to service inspection.
- Thoroughly audit both component maintenance and documentation to ensure complete compliance with approved/acceptable technical data, regulations, and repair stations approved quality system.
- Analyze engineering publications, shop travelers, FAA, and manufacturer’s technical data to determine nature and extent of inspection requirements.
- Determines most practical inspection method and technique and plans appropriate sequence of operation.
- Selects and uses the appropriate precision measuring tools to dimensionally inspect and determine part tolerance and clearances including but not limited to micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, test and drop indicators, surface plates, feelers gauges, and torque wrenches.
- Review article trace documentation to accurately identify suspect unapproved parts.
- Locate and accurately interpret technical data.
- Locate and accurately interpret blueprints and aircraft drawings.
- Ability to identify discrepancies on aircraft parts.
- Keeps accurate, neat, and legible records of the maintenance performed on aircraft articles.
- Conducts audits of maintenance documentation for accuracy and completion prior to approval for return to service.
- Conduct in-process inspections on maintenance being performed.
- Use company forms to document discrepancies and communicate findings to mechanics and department leads.
- Data entry of inspection findings and other maintenance performed into Electronic Reporting Program.
- Perform final inspection using approved/accepted technical data to verify proper article configuration and operation.
- Perform maintenance work on components received by the repair station including disassembly, cleaning, physical and dimensional inspection using measuring tools, assembly, and testing, where necessary.
- Any other duties as assigned by the Quality Manager.
- Mentor technicians on effective documentation.
- Communicates with management and Planning department as required to identify work assignments and delivery schedules.
- Continually monitors repair station compliance with 14 CFR 145 and the FAA accepted Repair Station and Quality Control Manual.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- The person must have an A&P License or the ability to obtain a repairman certificate for return to service of applicable ratings.
- Minimum 18 months of structural component inspection experience using various inspection methods or techniques.
- Minimum 5 years performing structures component maintenance or equivalent experience in commercial aviation working on Nacelle Components, Flight Surfaces, Flight Controls, Sheet Metal & Composite Repair.
- Have extensive knowledge of airworthiness and approval for return to service issuing FAA Form 8130-3.
- A US Person status as defined by ITAR Regulations
- Basic Computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
- Communication Skills, Teamwork, Coordination, Organization, Planning, Time Management, Reporting / Documentation Skills
- Must have a thorough understanding of the applicable Federal Aviation Regulations, as well as inspection methods, techniques, and equipment used to determine the quality or airworthiness of an article undergoing maintenance, repair, or alterations.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma, or equivalent required.
- Valid & Current FAA Airframe & Powerplant certification
- The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of component maintenance experience at an airline or MRO and at least 3 years of inspection experience.
Travel:
- May be asked to travel up to 10% of the time.

Physical Demands:
- Ability to walk and stand on level or inclined surfaces for extended periods of time.
- Ability to climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands.
- Ability to crouch, crawl, grasp, or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbows and knees and reach above and below shoulders.
- Ability to lift/carry/push/pull heavy objects up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to maneuver into different positions to accomplish required tasks.
- Working Conditions:
- The environmental characteristic for this position is a commercial aviation repair station and warehouse setting.
- Candidates should be able to adapt to the environments listed.
- There may be momentary exposure to high noises, exposure to chemicals and cleaning agents, and Personal Protection Equipment may be required for certain tasks.
