GE Aerospace Defense & Systems seeks an Aircraft Performance Engineer to help engine designers create competitive architectures by modeling both existing and new platforms. You will influence product strategy, engine designs and sales campaigns across rotorcraft and fixed-wing platforms. The role requires a B.S.
in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, 5+ years in aerospace/ mechanical engineering, and the ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance.
As an Aircraft Performance Engineer within the GE Aerospace Defense & Systems business, you will help engine designers to create competitive architectures by working at the intersection of aircraft design and engine design. By modeling both existing platforms and new platforms, you will become a strategic partner for our customers by ensuring that propulsion investment remains focused on providing transformational aircraft capability. Your work will directly influence product strategy, engine designs and sales campaigns. You will have opportunity to model rotorcraft, fixed-wing, subsonic, and supersonic aircraft across a wide range of mission capabilities.
Define aircraft performance studies to assess mission capability of new aircraft and engine concepts
Create current and future aircraft models with GE / partner engines and competitor engines
Lead and execute mission analysis (fuel burn, payload, and range) studies for current and future aircraft with GE / partner engines and competitor engines
Provide key results / conclusions to engineering, engine product line, and marketing / sales peers & leadership
Support GE product strategy / design development through assessment of potential future aircraft/engine performance capability
Support GE / partner engine design & optimization through aircraft/engine performance assessments
Interact effectively with airframer contacts regarding performance and integration
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited University or College.
Atleast 5 years of experience in an aerospace or mechanical engineering position.
This role requires the successful candidate to obtain and maintain US Government Security Clearance; prerequisite for a security clearance is U.S. citizenship.
Master of Science in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited University or College
Able to work collaboratively in both a dynamic team environment and independently
Experience with aircraft design and sizing, and with mission analysis in either fixed-wing or rotorcraft.
This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. Therefore, employment will be contingent upon the ability to prove that you meet the status of a U.S. Person as one of the following: U.S. lawful permanent resident, U.S. Citizen, have been granted asylee or refugee status (i.e., a protected individual under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)).
