Job summary

SEGULA Technologies in Wichita, KS seeks an experienced aircraft painter to read engineering drawings, prepare surfaces, apply chemicals and paint, mask areas, and perform stripping and cleaning tasks.

Candidates should have at least 5 years of paint experience, including 3 years on full body aircrafts; military experience is not acceptable. You will support production, flight test, and other areas, with emphasis on safety and quality procedures.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of paint experience, including 3 years on full body aircraft.
• Corporate experience on full body aircrafts required; military experience not acceptable.
• Must read engineering drawings and follow IPM procedures.

Responsibilities

• Read engineering drawings to identify tasks before painting.
• Mask, unmask, and re-mask aircraft surfaces to protect windows and sensitive areas.
• Apply stripper and paint, then remove stripper and contaminants.
• Sand, grind, and buff surfaces; apply putty and sealers as preparation.
• Apply Alodine using spray equipment.
• Document work per Inspection Procedures Manual (IPM).
• Support production, flight test, and other areas as needed.
• Assist co-workers in area of qualification.
• Move aircraft to appropriate bay and support safe operations.

• Read engineering drawings to identify the tasks to be performed in preparation for the application of chemicals and paint to aircraft surface.
• Apply safety absorbent to hangar floor and spray aircraft surface with stripper to remove all paint.
• Assist with moving aircraft to appropriate bay.
• Mask, unmask, and re-mask appropriate areas of aircraft surface to ensure complete protection of windows and other areas susceptible to damage.
• Remove stripper, excess paint, and/or contaminants using water, solvents, air blower, and/or brushes.
• Sand, grind, and buff polished areas of aircraft surface, apply putty to body dents, and replace sealer in preparation for the application of primer and paint.
• Apply Alodine to aircraft surface using spray equipment.
• Perform touch-up work as required.
• Document work performed per Inspection Procedures Manual (IPM)
• Perform above tasks in support of production, flight test, and other outside areas as required.
• Assist other employees in the performance of their duties within area(s) of qualification.
• Minimum 5 years of paint experience, including 3 years of corporate experience on full body aircrafts not just small parts (military experience is not acceptable)
