Position Summary:

AAA United States, Inc. has partnered with a company in Wichita, KS that is a world leading manufacturer of business aircraft with a global network of service centers. They are committed to building their products with the future in mind – making them reliable and more efficient, while contributing to highly favorable operating costs. They masterfully design private jets and signature moments through an extensive portfolio of innovative products. The facility has received 21 consecutive FAA Diamond Awards and is actively involved in the Hartford community, spearheading programs to create awareness about aviation maintenance among local students and to help close the gender gap in the industry. We are looking for skilled Aircraft Painter to assist with this client's production needs.

As an Aircraft Painter you will be sanding and preparing surfaces for paint, mixing paint products and applying paint products within the allocated man-hour budgets and on schedule while maintaining quality standards and performing the tasks within the guidelines of all safety regulations and regulatory requirements.

Essential Functions:

  • Adhere to General Work Requirements
  • Read engineering drawings to identify the tasks to be performed in preparation for the application of chemicals and paint to aircraft surface
  • Apply safety absorbent to hangar floor and spray aircraft surface with stripper to remove all paint
  • Assist with moving aircraft to appropriate bay
  • Mask, unmask, and remask appropriate areas of aircraft surface to ensure complete protection of windows and other areas susceptible to damage
  • Remove stripper, excess paint, and/or contaminants using water, solvents, airblower, and/or brushes
  • Sand, grind, and buff polished areas of aircraft surface, apply putty to body dents, and replace sealer in preparation for the application of primer and paint
  • Apply alodine to aircraft surface using spray equipment
  • Assist with the application of primers to aircraft surface
  • Assist with painting parts, components, and/or aircraft surface
  • Assist with checking for imperfections after painting and striping application using discrepancy sheet and documented squawks and perform touch-up work as required
  • Document work performed per Inspection Procedures Manual (IPM)
  • Perform above tasks in support of production, flight test, and other outside areas as required
  • May perform Designated Inspector (DI) function as qualified by QA
  • Assist other employees in the performance of their duties within area(s) of qualification
  • Apply base coat of paint, stripes, decals, and vinyl appliques to aircraft surface

Requirements

  • 4 years of experience, which must include preparation and painting aircraft or equivalent
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering documents, customer instructions, and maintenance manuals
