Job summary

M1 Support Services is seeking an Aircraft Mechanic III - Instrumentation Lead to oversee maintenance and configuration of F-117A instrumentation in accordance with the PWS. The role requires deep hands-on work in hangars, testing, and integration of telemetry and flight instrumentation.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED (associates/bachelor preferred), 10+ years in instrumentation, and ability to obtain Top Secret clearance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Minimum 10 years of technical experience with aircraft data collection and telemetry systems.
• Thorough knowledge of instrumentation equipment and airworthiness concepts.
• Familiarity with criteria like T-1, T-2, MIL-HDBK-516C for instrumentation.
• Experience installing, maintaining, and repairing telemetry and instrumentation systems.
• Ability to obtain/maintain Top Secret clearance; TS highly desired.
• Working knowledge of MS Word, Outlook, SharePoint, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, repair, and modify aircraft structures, components, and engines of high difficulty.
• Maintain and repair instrumentation, flight controls, hydraulics, pneumatics, and related systems.
• Design/test hardware and devices to ensure performance and safety.
• Modify equipment and fabricate test devices to resolve instrumentation limits.
• Provide guidance to lower-level technicians during aircraft modifications/maintenance.
• Maintain records per AF procedures.

Job Summary

M1 Support Services is looking for an Aircraft Mechanic III - Instrumentation Lead. The Aircraft Mechanic III - Instrumentation Lead is responsible for the overall maintenance and configuration of the F-117A installed instrumentation systems in accordance with the PWS.

• Maintains, repairs, modifies aircraft structures and structural components and engines of complex to extreme difficulty.
• Maintains and repairs aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components.
• Recommends test and measurement hardware designs, material and devices to assure performance and safety.
• Resolves instrumentation limitations or unavailability by modifying existing equipment, fabricating test devices and related peripheral items needed using new test equipment and measuring devices.
• Uses practical electronics, mechanical, and aeronautical engineering concepts to fabricate test and measurement systems.
• Applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and applies technical expertise in restoring equipment condition and operation.
• Applies professional technical expertise and guidance to solve complex problems by interpreting technical data such as blueprints or manufactures' manuals.
• Provides guidance and technical expertise to lower-level technicians and work centers throughout all aircraft modifications and/or maintenance efforts, including more complex tasks, as directed.
• Maintains aircraft and support equipment forms records IAW Air Force (AF) procedures utilizing AF Information Systems and forms as required.
• Performs in a safe and efficient manner acceptable to the Company and customer.
• Demonstrates a continuous effort to improve operations, streamline processes that reduce cost and/or labor hours and enhance operations.
• Maintains qualifications contained on the Special Certification Roster (SCR) as directed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

• High school diploma or GED is required. Associates or Bachelor's degree desired.
• Minimum of 10-years technical experience working with aircraft data collection and telemetry systems.
• Must have a thorough knowledge of instrumentation equipment and electronic, mechanical, and aeronautical concepts.
• Must be familiar with T-1, T-2, and MIL-HDBK-516C criteria in relation to instrumentation and airworthiness.
• Experience must include installation, maintenance, and repair of range support instrumentation equipment/systems such as telemetry systems, microwave systems, position location systems, and meteorological instrumentation.
• Detailed knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, cable tensiometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers, and related is required.
• Working knowledge of principles applying to aircraft systems, concepts and applications of maintenance directives, data reporting, and using technical data is mandatory.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance; previous or active Top Secret highly desired.
• Must have a working knowledge of computers and basic computer software programs such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, SharePoint, PowerPoint and Excel.
• Will be required to utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as: safety toe footwear, safety glasses, etc.
• Must be reliable, self-motivated, and able to deal with stressful situations and timelines while maintaining a professional and non-confrontational attitude.
• Must possess excellent organizational skills in prioritizing workload to meet aircraft delivery schedule.
• Must possess a current valid U.S. Driver's License.
• Must speak, read, write, and understand English.

Working Conditions

• Position requires complying with unique commuting/travel requirements.
• Will work in aircraft hangars and outside on aircraft ramps within close proximity of running equipment and aircraft.
• Must be able to work days, nights, weekends, or overtime shifts as required.
• May work outdoors, sometimes in hot or cold weather.
• May be exposed to contaminants.
• May be exposed to hazardous conditions, such as when standing on scaffolding or climbing ladders.
• Will be exposed to loud and persistent noise.
• Will be required to utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as: safety toe footwear, safety glasses, etc.
