Job summary

M1 Support Services, LP in Las Vegas, Nevada, seeks an Aircraft Mechanic III - Avionics Lead to perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on assigned aircraft in accordance with the PWS and AF procedures.

The candidate will troubleshoot, repair, and lead a team of technicians, maintain records, and ensure mission capability while coordinating with supervision. U.S. security clearance eligibility and a valid driver's license are required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • 10+ years avionics maintenance in a military environment.
  • 5+ years avionics troubleshooting of Line Replaceable Units with bench check systems.
  • 3+ years F-117A experience preferred.
  • Air Force 7 level (or equivalent) required.
  • Knowledge of T-2 modifications in a Test environment.
  • Coordinate maintenance with supervision to ensure timely return to mission capability.
  • Reliable, self-motivated, and able to handle stress and timelines.
  • Security clearance eligibility, and ability to obtain/maintain.
  • Valid U.S. Driver's License and English proficiency.

Job Summary:
The Aircraft Mechanic III - Avionics Lead will primarily perform all scheduled and unscheduled aircraft and equipment maintenance, both on and off equipment, on assigned aircraft and equipment in accordance with the Performance Work Statement (PWS), M1 policy, DAFI 21-101(and supplements), as well as industry standards

Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
  • Will perform aircraft and equipment maintenance on assigned MDS aircraft in a highly "cross-utilization/trained" environment.
  • Will be required to perform at a high level of competency in one or more of the following areas: repair and reclamation, egress, avionics, APG, wheel & tire, sheet metal, composite repair, propulsion, fuels, AGE, armament, munitions, non-destructive inspection (NDI), and pneudraulics.
  • Troubleshoots/repairs complex problems.
  • Prioritizes and directs the activities of other technicians.
  • Maintains aircraft and support equipment forms records IAW Air Force procedures utilizing Air Force Information Systems and forms as required.
  • May perform other duties such as: transient aircraft support, CDDAR team member, phase dock, QA augmentation, etc.
  • May maintain, repair and modify aircraft structures, structural components and engines of complex to extreme difficulty.
  • May maintain and repair aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems and mechanical components.
  • May apply technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions.
  • May apply technical expertise in restoring equipment condition and operation.
  • May apply professional technical expertise and guidance to solve complex problems by interpreting technical data such as blueprints or manufactures' manuals.
  • May be required to make entries in aircraft logs and records.
  • May be responsible for providing guidance and technical expertise to lower-level technicians throughout all aircraft modifications and/or maintenance efforts.
  • Assists other personnel and work centers as directed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years performing aircraft avionics maintenance functions in a military environment with a minimum of five (5) years aircraft back shop avionics troubleshooting and repairing Line Replaceable Units using equipment bench check systems, at least 3 years F-117A experience preferred and attainment of an Air Force 7 level (or equivalent) is required.
  • Knowledge of and experience performing T-2 modifications in a Test environment is required.
  • Must have experience coordinating maintenance efforts with supervision to ensure the timely return of aircraft to mission capable status.
  • Must be reliable, self-motivated, and able to deal with stressful situations and timelines while maintaining a professional and non-confrontational attitude.
  • Shall assist other personnel and work centers as directed, and perform other duties as assigned.
  • Must be able to make entries in aircraft logs and records and is responsible for providing guidance and technical expertise to lower-level technicians throughout all aircraft modifications and/or maintenance effort.
  • The incumbent must possess the experience and ability to provide technical support to structural/mechanical engineers and customers alike.
  • The incumbent must possess excellent organizational skills in prioritizing workload to meet aircraft delivery schedule.
  • Will occasionally be required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks and may be required to make entries in aircraft logs and records.
  • Working knowledge of principles applying to aircraft systems, concepts and applications of maintenance directives, data reporting, and using technical data is mandatory.
  • Knowledge of Air Force supply and efficiency reporting procedures is mandatory.
  • Knowledge of the proper handling, use, and disposal of hazardous waste and materials is mandatory.
  • Must be able to obtain/maintain the security clearance level as mandated by the government customer.
  • Maintains qualifications contained on the Special Certification Roster (SCR) as directed.
  • Must possess a current valid U.S. Driver's License.
  • Must speak, read, write, and understand English.
Working Conditions:
  • Position requires complying with unique commuting/travel requirements.
  • Will work in aircraft hangars and outside on aircraft ramps within close proximity of running equipment and aircraft.
  • Must be able to work days, nights, weekends, or overtime shifts as required.
  • May work outdoors, sometimes in hot or cold weather.
  • May be exposed to contaminants.
  • May be exposed to hazardous conditions, such as when standing on scaffolding or climbing ladders
  • Will be exposed to loud and persistent noise
  • Will be required to utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as: safety toe footwear, safety glasses, etc.
