Job summary

Adams Communication & Engineering Technology (ACET), Incorporated seeks an experienced Aircraft Mechanic II - Sheet Metal to perform moderate-to-complex structural modifications, sheet metal fabrications, and airframe repairs for Mountain Home Air Force Base in ID.

As a Tier II mechanic, you will lead teams, prioritize workloads, review peers, and apply aerospace blueprints and manuals to ensure mission-ready aircraft aboard the installation.

Qualifications

• Must possess or be able to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.
• Broad knowledge of aircraft sheet metal fabrication, airframe modification, and repair procedures.
• Combined knowledge of airframe and powerplant systems for troubleshooting.
• Experience with sheet metal shop tools (brakes, shears) and precision measurement devices.
• Knowledge of aviation publications, blueprint reading, and aircraft logs.

Responsibilities

• Repair, modify, and fabricate aircraft sheet metal structures of moderate difficulty.
• Form, bend, cut, and shape aerospace-grade materials with brakes and shears.
• Maintain and repair flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel, and basic electrical systems.
• Provide data for MEC and ECOD tracking and assist MWOs adjustments.
• Lead maintenance teams, manage workflows, and sign off work by other technicians.
• Read and solve problems using aerospace documentation and manufacturer manuals.
• Use micrometers, dial indicators, torque wrenches, and test equipment to verify clearance and fit.
• Update aircraft logs and maintenance records with minimal supervision.

We are seeking an expert Aircraft Mechanic II - Sheet Metal to execute moderate-to-complex structural modifications, sheet metal fabrications, and airframe repairs.

In this role, you will apply comprehensive technical knowledge to troubleshoot airframe, powerplant, and core mechanical systems to keep our fleet mission-ready.

As a Tier II Mechanic, you will be expected to prioritize your project workloads to maintain strict operational schedules, provide technical engineering inputs, and lead teams through complex aircraft tasks. You will also hold peer-review authority to inspect the work of fellow Mechanic I and II team members.

Responsibilities:

• Repair, modify, and fabricate aircraft sheet metal structures and structural components of moderate difficulty, ensuring seamless aerodynamic and structural integrity.
• Form, bend, cut, and shape aerospace-grade materials using specialized equipment including sheet metal brakes, shears, and unique aircraft hand tools.
• Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair broader aircraft components including flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and basic electrical systems.
• Provide accurate data inputs for Maintenance Engineering Changes (MEC) and Estimated Cost of Damage (ECOD) tracking, and assist in recommending critical adjustments to Modification Work Orders (MWO).
• Lead maintenance teams through complex, multi-layered tasks, manage daily workflows, and exercise authorized peer-inspection authority to sign off on work performed by Mechanic I and II personnel.
• Read, interpret, and solve moderate-to-complex problems using aerospace technical documentation, engineering blueprints, and manufacturer manuals.
• Utilize precision instruments such as micrometers, dial indicators, torque wrenches, and specialized test equipment to verify clearance, fit, and operational compliance.
• Accurately update and maintain aircraft logs and technical maintenance records under minimal guidance from higher-level technicians.

Qualifications:

• Must possess or be able to obtain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret Security Clearance to access the airfield and military installation.
• Broad, proven knowledge of aircraft sheet metal fabrication, airframe modification, and structural repair procedures.
• Combined technical knowledge of airframe and powerplant systems to successfully isolate malfunctions and restore equipment operation.
• Demonstrated mastery of sheet metal shop tools (brakes, shears) and precision measurement devices (micrometers, dial indicators).
• Thorough working knowledge of aviation technical publications, blueprint reading, and completing official entries in aircraft logs.
• Strong ability to prioritize tasks, maintain production schedules on assigned projects, and mentor junior technicians on the floor.
• Basic understanding of electrical theory, avionics, or related aircraft disciplines to support cross-functional maintenance actions.
