Job description

Aircraft Mechanics II must have a combination of experience to repair engines, sheet metal, and structural, hydraulic, electrical, power train and general mechanical maintenance of moderate difficulty, required to meet the assigned missions. Additionally provides input to Maintenance Engineering Changes (MEC), Estimated Cost of Damage preparation (ECOD) and assist in the recommendation of changes to (MWO). Individuals must be able to prioritize workloads and are required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks. Mechanic IIs can inspect Mechanic IIs and Is. This mechanic maintains repairs and modifies aircraft structures and structural components of moderate difficulty, maintains and repairs aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components, applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and applies required expertise in restoring equipment condition and or operation, and applies comprehensive technical expertise to solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting technical documentation such as blueprints or manufactures’ manuals. Must have a thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, repair procedures and replacement of parts, requires broad knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modifications and repair, must have basic knowledge of electrical theory, must have thorough knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers. This job requires working knowledge of technical publications. The incumbent receives technical guidance, as required, from supervisor or higher-level technician, will occasionally be required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks, and may be required to make entries in aircraft logs and records. Must be able to prioritize workload to maintain schedules on assigned projects. May require specialization in sheet-metal, electric work, avionics or other aircraft systems related disciplines.

Task Requirements:
  • Performs aircraft maintenance functions of the Line, Corrosion Control, Tool Room and Aircraft Organizational Level maintenance and flight testing support
  • Scheduled and unscheduled maintenance support for assigned MH-60 aircraft
  • Maintain aircraft and aeronautical equipment to continuously support the assigned SAR readiness posture outlined in in the activities SAR Plan and daily flight schedule.
  • Aircraft maintenance action documentation via logs, records, forms, and electronic means
  • Troubleshoot malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, anti-icing, pneudraulic, engines, auxiliary power unit, and ventilation and heating systems
  • Use hand tools, power tools, machines, specific and general aviation test measurement and diagnostic equipment, and sets kits and outfits (SKO).
  • Read and interpret manufacturers' maintenance manuals, military technical manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, blueprints, manufacturers’ drawings, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components

PreferredQualifications:
  • Seven or more years of rotary wing maintenance experience
  • Qualified to certify MH-60 aircraft Safe-for-Flight
  • Naval Aviation Maintenance Control Management course (C-555-0053)
  • Collateral Duty Quality Assurance Representative (CDQAR) for Airframes, Power Plants and Electrical Systems
  • Collateral Duty Inspector (CDI) for Line, Corrosion Control and Avionics Systems
  • Quality Assurance Safety Observer (QASO)
  • Ammunition & Explosive handling qualifications
  • Vibration Analysis Operator / Interpreter

BasicQualifications:
  • Individual (I) Aircraft Maintenance Qualification
  • Three years of rotarywing maintenance experience
  • Must be able to work 1st, 2nd, 3rd and weekend shift or as required
  • Must be able to work flexible schedule Mon-Fri, Sun-Thur and Fri-Mon or as required
  • Must be able to provide maintenance support for actual SAR missions within two hours of notification for weekends, holidays, and before/after normal services hours as required
  • Shall be able to travel in support of detachment operations as required
  • Must be eligible for a Common Access Card (CAC)
  • Satisfactory completion of T3/T3R National Agency Check Local Records Check and Credit (NACLC) or Access National Agency Check with written Inquiries (ANACI) resulting in eligibility for a SECRET clearance shall be required of all employees
  • All other FTEs requiring access to Department of Navy (DON) IT systems or access to CUI will require a Favorable T3 investigation initiated by the Government GCA per 5510.30 series and NIMPSOMs and will be enrolled in Continuous Evaluation. All personnel will be vetted through the Contracting Officer Security Representative
  • Must be able to climb ladders, raised platforms, and aircraft

Compensation

$39.58/hour

Other Compensation

Employees will receive a minimum health and welfare fringe benefit of $2.65 for every hour paid up to 40 hours per week.

Employees are offered medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are able to enroll in KAI’s 401k plan. Employees have a minimum of eleven paid holidays. After completing one year of service, employees will have two weeks paid vacation.

Employment is contingent on (a) your ability to provide appropriate proof of your identity and eligibility to work in the United States; (b) your references and any background check being satisfactory to the Company; (c) you successfully passing a pre-employment drug test; and (d) your ability to get a required clearance by your effective start date, if needed; and (e) KAI commencing performance on this contract.
