Job Summary:

Assist Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Mechanics to repair, maintain, overhaul, and troubleshoot airframes, engine systems, parts, and components. Fabricate, assemble, install, and repair sheet metal products and equipment. Assist with 100-hour and progressive inspections, as well as modifications and structural repairs on aircraft. May be required to assist lower-grade mechanics.

Job Responsibilities:
  1. Assist with mechanical duties on various aircraft models, including diagnosing malfunctions and performing disassembly, rework, repair, replacement, reassembly, or adjustment of aircraft systems to prepare aircraft for flight and delivery.
  2. Assist with turbine engine troubleshooting, inspection, repair, and engine run-ups.
  3. Conduct airframe system and component changes, systems checkout, and assist with installation of service bulletins and kits.
  4. Ensure safety practices are followed when working with tooling, jigs, and fixtures for sheet metal repairs.
  5. Lay out sheet metal parts using blueprints, drawings, or instructions.
  6. Perform rivet and sheet metal component removal, modification, and service work.
  7. Assist in repairing malfunctions in complex aircraft assemblies and systems, including engines.
  8. Perform functional tests and mechanical operations on various aircraft models, involving disassembly, rework, repair, replacement, reassembly, or adjustment of systems and components.
  9. Use equipment to operate and test aircraft systems, employing hand tools and other measurement devices.
  10. Perform aircraft composite repairs.
  11. Use tools such as tensiometers, micrometers, pressure gauges, dial gauges, and vacuum gauges for repairs or modifications.
  12. Take responsibility for own work quality.
  13. May train lower-grade aircraft mechanics.
  14. Perform other related duties as required.
Education:
  • High school diploma, equivalent certificate, or bronze level WorkKeys certification required.
  • Knowledge of jet and piston airframe and engine principles, blueprints, and specifications required.
  • Preferably hold an Airframe or Powerplant Mechanic license.
Experience:

Minimum of 5 years experience in aircraft inspections, repairs, structural or composite modifications. Must complete Aircraft Mechanic A-573 checklist prior to qualifying or hiring for Grade A. Full Airframe and Powerplant license may reclassify the employee to A&P Mechanic-573.

Working Conditions:

Exposure to noise and weather elements, which may be somewhat disagreeable.
