The Aircraft Mechanic position is a Professional Staff employee reporting to the Chief of Maintenance. The individual will be expected to perform and assist with the maintenance required to keep the Delaware State University aircraft in airworthy condition.

Essential Functions

The following are the functions essential to performing this job:

  1. Perform maintenance and inspections in accordance with the applicable FARs and manufacturer's recommendations.
  2. Ensure that all aircraft maintenance scheduled to be accomplished is completed efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of quality.
  3. Keep the work area and equipment used in a clean and orderly condition.
  4. Report issues, malfunctions, unusual wear, or damage to the Chief of Maintenance.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

The individual in this job must possess these skills and abilities or be able to demonstrate that they can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities:

  1. Knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations, Part 141
  2. Experience in reading and understanding Supplemental Type Certificates (STC), Airworthiness Directives (AD), and Service Bulletins (SB)
  3. Prior experience in troubleshooting, inspection, and repair of avionics systems
  4. Ability to twist, bend, squat, climb, crawl, and perform other body movements necessary to fulfill the job requirements.
  5. Normal physical exertion required for periods of standing or working on foot; ability to lift/carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
