Aviation Technology Associates (AVTECH Global) is seeking an Aircraft Materials & Processes Engineer 5 for a 12-month contract in Savannah, GA. The role centers on leading complex projects in materials and processes, MRB liaison, and continuous improvement across multi-disciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field required.
• 13 years specific technical discipline or 15 years broad engineering experience with bachelor's. Experience credit for related advanced degrees (Masters 2 years, PhD 4 years).
• Advanced degree in engineering related field preferred. The level of technical skill will be established by each discipline.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for an entire engineering project of major complexity within established scope.
• Makes technical decisions and recommendations with authoritative impact on extensive engineering activities.
• Applies advanced technical principles and concepts based on broad expertise or unique specialized knowledge.
• Leads the development of innovative principles and ideas.
• Develops standards and guides for diverse engineering activities.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Pay Rate:

$88.89 per hour

Shift:

First (08:00 to 17:00)

Job Type:

Full-time, Contract

Contract Duration:

12 months (w/opportunity for extension)

Experience/Education:

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related curriculum applicable to the respective job position required or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
• 13 years specific technical discipline or 15 years broad engineering experience in several technical disciplines with bachelor's. Experience credit considered for related advanced degrees limited to 2 years for master's and 4 years for PhD in fields applicable to this job.
• Advanced degree in engineering related field preferred. The level of technical skill and abilities appropriate for this grade will be established by each discipline.

Required Skills:

• Experience with demonstrating successful manufacturing liaison material review board (MRB) integration and implementing continuous improvement projects.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience in generating and communicating technical requirements to external suppliers and internal multi-engineering disciplines (Powerplant, Environmental Control, Structures, Electrical, and Mechanical).
• Smarteam and Catia experience of reviewing proposed designs and workflows.
• Produced EAR approved test plans and results reports.
• Good understanding of continuous improvement and how it relates to materials & processes.

Unique Skills:

• Valid driver's license may be required.
• Participation in a DOT/FAA drug and alcohol program may be required.

Purpose:

Works on engineering projects containing critical problems, the solution of which requires major technological advances and extensive related development.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• Responsible for an entire engineering project of major complexity within established scope.
• Makes technical decisions and recommendations that are recognized as authoritative and have an important impact on extensive engineering activities.
• Applies advanced technical principles, theories and concepts based on broad expertise or unique specialized knowledge.
• Leads the development of innovative principles and ideas.
• Acts independently to determine improved methods and/or procedures to optimize technical product, cost and schedule requirements.
• Works under consultative direction; uses independent judgment to accomplish objectives.
• Develops standards and guides for diverse engineering activities.
• Conceives and plans investigation of broad areas of importance for which engineering precedents are lacking in areas critical to the program.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
