Job summary

Aviation Institute of Maintenance (AIM) Irving, TX, is seeking experienced Aircraft Maintenance Instructors (A&P mechanics) to deliver FAA-aligned training in classroom and hangar environments.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years of aircraft maintenance experience, an FAA A&P certificate, and a passion for mentoring future technicians. Evening/weekend shifts and a comprehensive benefits package are available.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required with aviation background.
  • FAA A&P certificate preferred or required depending on role.
  • Minimum 3 years of aircraft maintenance experience.
  • Experience mentoring or teaching is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Teach aircraft maintenance systems, procedures, and hands-on techniques.
  • Deliver FAA Part 147-aligned curriculum to prepare students for A&P certification.
  • Demonstrate practical skills used by A&P mechanics and aviation technicians.
  • Maintain records of attendance, grades, and student progress.
  • Support curriculum updates and collaborate with program leadership.

About the Role

As an Aircraft Maintenance Instructor (A&P Mechanic Instructor), you will deliver FAA Part 147-aligned aviation maintenance curriculum and provide hands-on instruction to students preparing for careers as aircraft maintenance technicians (AMTs).

This role is ideal for experienced A&P mechanics, aircraft mechanics, and aviation maintenance professionals who want to combine technical expertise with mentorship and training while delivering hands-on aviation maintenance instruction in classroom and active hangar environments.

Schedule options:
Evening Shift (Two Options):
  • Option 1: Monday–Thursday: 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM; Friday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Fridays flexible, as needed)
  • Option 2: Monday–Thursday: 1:30 PM – 11:30 PM
Key Responsibilities
  • Teach aircraft maintenance systems, procedures, and techniques in a hands-on environment
  • Deliver FAA-aligned curriculum to prepare students for A&P certification
  • Demonstrate practical skills used by A&P mechanics and aviation technicians
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student progress
  • Support curriculum updates and collaborate with program leadership
  • Help create a structured, engaging, and safety-focused learning environment
  • Maintain classroom, lab equipment, and training materials
Qualifications
Education
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Associate degree in aviation or related field preferred
Experience
  • Minimum 3 years ofaircraftmaintenance experience
  • Background as an A&P Mechanic,AircraftMechanic, or Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT)
Licensure
  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Mechanic Certificaterequired
Skills
  • Strong knowledge of aircraft systems and aviation maintenance procedures
  • Interest in mentoring, coaching, and developing others
  • Ability to work in a structured, compliance-driven training environment
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint)
  • Flexibility to support evening or weekend schedules as needed
