Job summary

Safran Seats USA seeks a mechanically inclined Aircraft Interiors Field Service Technician II to support seat installations and resolve issues during aircraft assembly and delivery. The role offers hands-on problem solving on commercial aircraft and opportunities to travel with major aviation customers.

You will operate on-site at Air Framer facilities in North America, coordinating with QA, engineers, and Air Framer staff while complying with safety requirements and training.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of Field Service experience.
  • Mechanical ability with hand and power tools.
  • Familiar with CMMs, engineering drawings, and MS Office.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to obtain a passport.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Willing to travel internationally and domestically; 2–4 weeks per year.

Responsibilities

  • Rework and stamp pickups as directed during aircraft build.
  • Replace/troubleshoot faulty components and misaligned panels.
  • Maintain high workmanship quality.
  • Respond promptly to Air Framer and customer communications.
  • Maintain good rapport with Air Framer personnel and customers.
  • Follow safety guidelines and training requirements.
  • Submit part orders; understand POA/SOA processes.

You will work directly on commercial aircraft, supporting seat installations and resolving issues during aircraft assembly and delivery. Occupational Summary (Position Objective & Authorities)

Objective:

The Field Service Technician II provides on-site support at the Air Framer for Safran Aerospace Seats pertaining to interiors manufactured in USA, France and Great Britain. The team of Field Service Technicians provides assistance to Air Framer / Airline customers during the build of the Aircraft specific to installation issues, damaged parts, reworking pickups, cosmetic defects and any customer relations issues we have. Rework areas include: Receiving, BFE, Factory and Flight line relating to all built Aircraft with Safran Seats product. All rework preformed at the Air Framer must adhere to Safran Seats drawings, specifications and specific rework instructions. This position will work under general supervision and reports to the OSS Manager on a daily basis. This position handles moderately complex issues and problems, and refers more highly complex issues to higher-level technicians.

Essential Functions (Duties and Responsibilities)

A) Rework and stamp pickups self-identified and/or written by Air Framer and/or customer during the build of the Aircraft.

B) Replace/troubleshoot faulty electronic components and other damaged parts, adjusting misaligned panels / trim pieces, provide assistance to the Air Framer seat installation team and other miscellaneous tasks given.

C) Sustains a high quality level of workmanship at all times.

D) Responds promptly to all communication (telephone, etc.) with Air Framer personnel and customers.

E) Maintain a good rapport with Air Framer personnel and customers.

F) Follow Safran /Air Framer safety guidelines or processes established by the organization at all times.

G) Submits accurate part order requests and understands the POA / SOA process at Air Framer / Safran.

H) Responsible for driving company van and other technicians safely around Air Framer/Safran Facilities.

I) Attend Safran daily standup/tie-in meeting.

J) Adhere to Air Framer /Safran training requirements that relate to Flight line, Safety and other course overviews throughout the year.

K) Coordinate verbally with QA's, Engineers, Lead's, Technicians and other key Air Framer / Safran personnel on a daily basis.

L) Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands
  • Must be able to work in confined aircraft cabin spaces, including under-seat, sidewall, and overhead stowage areas. Regularly required to kneel, crouch, bend, stoop and reach into restricted or awkward areas. Must be able to sit, stand, or lie in prone positions for extended periods while performing installation or inspection tasks. Must be able to lift, carry, push or pull up to 40 lbs without assistance, and occasionally handle heavier items with team or mechanical assistance. Must be able to maneuver tools, fasteners, and seat components while maintaining balance and control in tight spaces. Work may involve prolonged standing and repetitive movements. Must have sufficient dexterity, coordination, and visual acuity to perform detailed mechanical tasks and read engineering drawings or instructions.
  • Work is performed primarily in aircraft production, completion, or maintenance hangars.

  • Work Experience - Technical knowledge
    • At least 2 years of Field Service experience related to troubleshooting and repairs required.
  • Professional Skills
    • Natural mechanical ability with hand and power tools
    • Basic working knowledge of CMM's, Engineering Drawing's and other technical documents.
    • Basic computer knowledge and have some familiarity with MS office applications.
    • Proficient using smart phones / tablets on a daily basis to send emails, pictures and other applications.
    • Valid driver's license and the ability to obtain a passport.

    • Ability to work efficiently under stressful situations.
    • Follows instructions and complete jobs in a timely manner.
    • Customer service is essential for this job and the employee must have excellent communication skills, verbally and handwritten.
    • Must have the availability to work various hours, after hours and weekend as needed.

    • Willing to travel to other Air Framer FALs in other state and other international Safran sites on some occasion.
