Job summary

Sierra Nevada Corporation seeks an experienced Aircraft Inspector IV to inspect aircraft, systems, equipment and parts for airworthiness and conformance to manufacturer specs and government regulations. You will oversee in-process and final inspections and approve for return to service, with deployment to various locations and potential 90-day OCONUS assignments.

The role requires FAA A&P certification, an IA designation, and the ability to obtain a U.S. government security clearance.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Higher level relevant degree may substitute for experience.
  • Active, current FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certification.
  • Inspection Authorization (IA) Designation.
  • Advanced knowledge of aircraft, aircraft systems, equipment and parts.
  • Experience with product audit and inspection processes.
  • Basic Microsoft Office Suite skills (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Familiar with inspection methods, techniques, and tools to determine airworthiness.
  • Ability to deploy for extended time to OCONUS locations.
  • Meet DoD and Combatant Command deployment requirements.
  • Pass a pre-deployment medical assessment.
  • Ability to obtain a passport and travel internationally (visa requirements).
  • Must obtain/maintain a U.S. government security clearance.
  • Willing to work extended hours, holidays, and shifting schedules.
  • Deployment up to 90 days OCONUS may be required.

If you are a seasoned aircraft inspection professional looking to make an impact in a rewarding industry, join our team! As an Aircraft Inspector IV, you will be using your skills and expertise to inspect our aircraft, aircraft systems, equipment, and parts to ensure airworthiness and conformance to the manufacturer’s specifications and government regulations. You’ll be responsible for identifying any breach of standards for airworthiness. Your inspection authority will include all in-process inspections, all final inspections, and approval for return to service of all work.

Responsibilities

  • Active, current Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certification.

  • Inspection Authorization (IA) Designation

  • Advanced knowledge of aircraft, aircraft systems, equipment and parts.

  • Thorough understanding and experience with the practical application of product audit and inspection processes and procedures.

  • Basic Microsoft Office Suite skills (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel).

  • Thoroughly familiar with the inspection methods, techniques, practices, aids, equipment, and tools used to determine the airworthiness of aviation products after maintenance.

  • Ability to deploy for an extended amount of time to various OCONUS operating locations.

  • Ability to meet current DoD and Combatant Command requirements for deployed locations.

  • Successfully pass a pre-deployment medical assessment.

  • Ability to obtain a current/ valid passport and be able to obtain a visa to travel internationally.

  • A United States Government Security Clearance is required for employment. Applicants who do not currently have a USG security clearance are welcome to apply and, if selected, will be processed for a USG security clearance by SNC prior to employment. Employment will begin once the USG security clearance is granted. If applicant is unable to obtain USG security clearance, the offer of employment will be withdrawn.

  • Must be willing and able to work extended hours, holidays and shift schedules as required.

  • Current/ valid passport and be able to obtain a visa to travel internationally.

  • Please be advised that this position may require deployment for a period of up to 90 days OCONUS, depending on mission needs. Deployment is not guaranteed and will be determined at the discretion of the supervisor or management, or as otherwise specified.
