Job description

THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.

This position is for an AIRCRAFT ENGINE MECHANIC, WG-8602-10 with the Position Description Number D1636000, part of the PA 193rd Special Operations Wing, National Guard.

One or more positions may be filled through this announcement.

Duties

As an AIRCRAFT ENGINE MECHANIC, WG-8602-10, you will:

  1. Remove, install, certify, repair, modify, overhaul, and install turboprop engines, reduction gear boxes, turbine modules, compressor modules, auxiliary power units, propellers, and related components.
  2. Modify engines, propellers, auxiliary power units, and components following TCTO directives.
  3. Remove and install engine quick change kits, prepare engines for installation, and install engine and propeller assemblies on aircraft.
  4. Perform operational checks of installed propellers, engines, auxiliary power units, and sub-systems during ground runs.
  5. Conduct isochronal and special evaluations on engines, propellers, and auxiliary power units.
  6. Perform full power runs and efficiency checks.
  7. Prepare man-hour data and input forms for CAMS or G081 systems.
  8. Maintain bench stock, parts, and equipment.
  9. Provide on-the-job training to personnel.
  10. Participate in readiness evaluations and inspections.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Membership in the National Guard is required; contact a recruiter if unsure of eligibility.
  • This is an excepted service position requiring membership in a compatible military assignment prior to employment.
  • Must wear the military uniform.
  • Acceptance of employment implies agreement to these conditions.
  • Applicants not currently in the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Must pass a background investigation for suitability.
  • Probationary periods may apply.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
Qualifications

APPOINTMENT STATUS: EXCEPTED

This is a Dual Status Excepted Service Technician position in the Pennsylvania Air National Guard.

AREA OF CONSIDERATION:

  • AOC 1: NG Employees at the 193rd SOW
  • AOC 2: NG Employees of the 193rd Special Operations Wing and affiliated units
  • AOC 3: NG Employees of the Pennsylvania National Guard
  • AOC 4: All service members of the Pennsylvania National Guard (including Traditional Airmen, Technicians, and AGR)
  • AOC 5: Service members from other branches willing to join PANG

General Experience: Experience with assembly/disassembly and modifications of aircraft engines and accessories, using hand and power tools.

Specialized Experience: Routine assembly/disassembly, maintenance overhaul, troubleshooting, testing, and repair of aircraft engines and components, diagnosing maintenance needs.

Quality of Experience: Experience should be evaluated based on duties performed, not just time served. Must demonstrate necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities.
