Job summary

IDS Inland Deicing Services, LLC is seeking an Aircraft Deicer at MSP (Minneapolis–Saint Paul) with multiple shifts. The role involves removing ice from aircraft, driving a deice truck, or spraying from the bucket, and inspecting for remaining contamination.

The position is part-time and seasonal, with training included. The MSP site at Bloomington helps maintain safety and efficiency for de/anti-icing operations in a weather-affected environment.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Intermediate computer skills.
• Must be able to read, write, understand and carry out instructions in English.
• Must be able to verbally direct in English.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Successful completion of all IDS classroom and OJT de-/anti-icing training.

Responsibilities

• Ensure a safe environment during the de/anti-icing operation and follow company policies.
• Participate in pre-planning for the de/anti-ice event (check equipment, trucks, servicing equipment with fuel or glycol).
• Inspect aircraft for ice and remaining frozen contamination after deicing.
• Ensure proper shutdown of pads, including paperwork and log books; report maintenance issues.

Job description

Discover an exciting future at the Airport! Aircraft Deicer at Minneapolis - Saint Paul International Airport Multiple Shifts $20.00/hour with opportunity for $22.00/hour after completion of single operator training.

Position Overview:

The primary role of the aircraft deicer is to remove ice from the aircraft. He or she drives a deice truck or sprays the airplane down from the bucket of a deice truck with deicing fluid, which is usually made of glycol. The individual in this position inspects the aircraft for ice and for remaining frozen contamination after the deicing has been performed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Including but not limited to):

• Ensure a safe environment during the de/anti-icing operation and make sure all company policies and procedures are being followed correctly
• Participate in the pre-planning for the de/anti-ice event (perform checks on equipment, trucks, servicing equipment with fuel or glycol)
• Uphold and follow the duties related to de/anti-icing aircraft according to procedures for both airlines and IDS including inspecting aircraft for frozen contamination
• Ensure proper shutdown of pads, including paperwork and log books; that all maintenance issues have been logged and reported to maintenance and all proper shutdown procedures for the equipment are followed

• Must be able to read, write, understand and carry out instructions in English
• Must be able to verbally direct in English
• Possess the tact to deal with all levels of employees and client representatives
• Successful completion of all IDS classroom and OJT de-/anti-icing training
• Must be able to speak and hear efficiently

Certifications/Licenses:

• Valid driver’s license.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment:

Prolonged periods of time standing with exposure to prevalent weather, dust, dirt, fuel, fumes and noise, in or around heavy equipment and moving vehicles.

Physical Demands:

Must be able to squat, stoop, kneel, bend, stretch, crawl, climb ladders and work at heights in excess of 15 ft to perform role, repairs, or inspections; Must be able to speak, hear efficiently to supplement other senses in maximizing situational awareness in safety sensitive environments; Must be able to use hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; Vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus; May be exposed to loud noises, harmful materials and dangerous equipment or machinery.

This is a part time seasonal position.

Travel:

No travel is anticipated with this position.

Security Clearance:

Ability to obtain and maintain all security clearances required by Transport Canada or TSA and/or local Airport Authorities; Ability to pass pre-employment background screenings.
