Job summary

IDS Inland Deicing Services, LLC is seeking a part-time seasonal Aircraft Deicer to operate deicing trucks, apply fluids, and inspect aircraft for ice. The role requires adherence to airline and IDS safety procedures and minimal supervision on a dynamic ramp environment.

The position is based at ORD in Des Plaines, IL, with a flexible schedule and opportunities for advancement. Candidates must be at least 18 and have a high school diploma or equivalent.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license and ability to pass background screening and airport security clearance.
• Read, understand and follow English instructions; verbal directions in English.

Responsibilities

• Follow safety procedures during deicing operations.
• Apply deicing fluid and inspect aircraft for ice/frozen contamination.
• Perform pre-operation checks of trucks and equipment; replenish glycol as needed.
• Follow pad and equipment shutdown procedures.
• Complete required paperwork and logbooks; report maintenance issues.

Position Overview:

The Aircraft Deicer removes ice from aircraft by applying deicing fluid from a deicing truck and inspecting aircraft for ice or remaining frozen contamination. This role follows airline and company procedures to support safe aircraft operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Follow company and airline safety procedures during deicing and anti-icing operations.
• Apply deicing fluid and inspect aircraft for ice and frozen contamination.
• Complete pre-operation checks of trucks and equipment; refuel or replenish glycol as needed.
• Follow proper pad and equipment shutdown procedures.
• Complete required paperwork and logbooks; report equipment maintenance issues.

Must be at least 18 years old; high school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Valid driver's license and ability to pass required background screening and airport security clearance.
• Read, understand and follow instructions in English; verbally direct others in English.
• Complete required IDS classroom and on-the-job deicing/anti-icing training.
• Demonstrate basic/intermediate computer skills and maintain confidentiality.
• Communicate professionally with employees and client representatives.
• Able to speak and hear effectively in a safety-sensitive environment.

• Travel: No travel is anticipated.
• Direct reports: None.
• Physical requirements: Prolonged standing outdoors in varying weather and around dust, fuel, fumes, noise, heavy equipment and moving vehicles. Must be able to bend, kneel, crawl, climb ladders and work at heights over 15 feet; use hands and arms to handle tools and controls; and meet required vision, hearing and communication demands.
