Job summary

DAS Aviation is seeking a Composite Technician to repair parts using Wet Layup and Prepreg, including work in clean room environments and autoclave curing. You will perform assembly with jigs and fixtures, operate curing ovens, and maintain shop equipment while adhering to FAA guidelines and safety rules.

We value team players who can work under deadlines, communicate clearly in English, and bring a HS diploma; A&P license is welcome but not required. Valid driver's license or passport ideal.

What you can expect as a Composite Technician at DAS Aviation:

As a Composite Technician, you will repair parts/components by means of "Wet Layup" and "Prepreg". Some repairs must be facilitated using a clean room and cured by means of an autoclave or controlled oven. Types of composite bonding methods utilized in repair may consist of co-curing, co-bonding, secondary bonding, and metal bonding, with adhesives in liquid form, and film.

You will be ESSENTIAL to many FUNCTIONS including:

• Using close tolerance measuring tools (i.e., scales, micrometers, calipers, depth gauges, etc.).
• Using hand tools (i.e., drill motors, die grinders, rivet guns, fastener installation tools, etc.).
• Performing alignment/assembly using jigs, templates, and fixtures.
• Using PPE when cutting, grinding, blending, and sanding.
• Extensive use of bagging materials.
• Able to properly bag for a wide range of component shapes and styles.
• Utilizing a "Hot-Bonder" type machine cure procedure.
• Maintaining, cleaning, and repairing shop facilities, equipment, and tooling when required.
• Safely operating shop equipment such as curing ovens, autoclaves, and vacuums.
• Basic computer skills to navigate electronic training, manuals, and maintenance databases.
• Effectively and clearly communicating (i.e., speaking, writing, reading) in English.
• Performing any other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor or management.

What you’ll need to bring with you:

Your Education:

A High school diploma or equivalent. Airframe and Powerplant License is not required, but welcome. A valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal, but not mandatory.

Your Experience:

Journeyman: 0-5 years of experience as a composite technician.
Master: 5+ years of experience as a composite technician.

Your Initiative:

Your Sense of Responsibility:

• Attend work every day as scheduled; opportunities to work overtime as workflow permits.
• Notify supervisor in advance of shift starting if unable to work.
• Must have reliable transportation to get to work each and every day.
• Perform all work in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines.
• Follow all company and safety rules during performance of duties.
• Maintain customer-oriented work habits.

Physical Requirements:

• Lifts 50 lbs.
• Routine walking, bending, and squatting or sitting.
• Routine or repetitive physical motion with arms and hands.
• Climb ladders and stairs, work in small restricted areas.
• Standing for long periods of time.

Mental Requirements:

• Understanding and implementation of regulations and guidelines.
• Troubleshoot or evaluate system operation.
• Work with others in a professional manner.

Supervision:

Work under supervision of assigned Team Leader.

Working Conditions:

Work is performed in controlled environments in industrial warehouses. Multiple departments include: Teardown/Evaluation, Nacelles, Composite.

Equipment Used:

Personal hand tools supplied by the mechanic.
Pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical equipment.
