Job summary

West Star Aviation Inc. seeks an Aircraft Composite Technician for 2nd shift in Cedar Hill, TX. Perform wet layup and prepreg repairs, operate autoclave or cure ovens, and ensure proper bagging of components under supervision of a Team Leader.

A High School diploma is required; Airframe & Powerplant license is welcome but not required. Journeyman 0–5 years; Master 5+ years; strong English communication and ability to read manuals are essential.

Qualifications

• Airframe and Powerplant license is not required, but welcome.
• Valid driver's license and/or passport preferred.
• Journeyman: 0–5 years of composite technician experience.
• Master: 5+ years of composite technician experience.

Responsibilities

• Repair parts using wet layup and prepreg processes in clean rooms with autoclave or cure ovens.
• Use a range of measuring tools and hand tools to assemble components.
• Operate curing ovens, autoclave, vacuum systems and related equipment.
• Bagging of components and proper containment for varied shapes.
• Follow FAA guidelines and safety rules; report to Team Leader.

What you can expect as a Composite Technician at DAS Aviation:

As Composite technician repairs parts/components by means of "Wet Layup" and "Prepreg". Some repairs must be facilitated using a clean room and cured by means of an autoclave or controlled oven. Types of Composite bonding methods utilized in repair may consist of: Co-curing, Co-bonding, secondary bonding, metal bonding, with adhesives in liquid form, and film.

You Will Be ESSENTIAL To Many FUNCTIONS Including

• Capable to use close tolerance measuring tools (i.e., scales, micrometers, calipers, depth gages, etc.).
• Capable to use hand tools (i.e., drill motors, die grinders, rivet guns, fastener installation tools, etc.).
• Ability to perform alignment/assembly using jig, templates and fixtures.
• PPE must be used when cutting, grinding, blending, and sanding
• Extensive use of bagging materials
• Able to properly bag for a wide range of component shapes and styles.
• Capable of using a "Hot-Bonder" type machine cure procedure.
• Maintenance, cleaning and repair of shop facilities, equipment and tooling when required.
• Safely operate shop equipment such as: curing oven, autoclave, vacuum
• Basic computer skills to be able to navigate electronic training, manuals, and maintenance data bases
• Effectively and clearly communicate (i.e., speak, write, read) in English
• Any other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor or management.

Your Education

What you’ll need to bring with you:

A High school diploma or equivalent. Airframe and Powerplant License is not required, but welcome.

A valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal, but not mandatory.

Your Experience

Journeyman: 0-5 years of experience as composite technician.

Master: 5+ years’ experience as a composite technician.
