NV5 is hiring an Aircraft Captain to lead geospatial flight missions. As Pilot in Command, you’ll own safe, compliant, and efficient operations from preflight to postflight—planning complex missions, leading crew coordination, making real-time decisions, and ensuring exceptional client outcomes. Your Mission
- Serve as PIC for geospatial survey operations; retain final authority for flight safety and compliance.
- Lead end-to-end mission planning: performance calculations, weather analysis, fuel strategy, and route optimization.
- Coordinate with ground support, ATC, clients, and internal stakeholders for seamless execution.
- Partner closely with the Sensor Operator to deliver accurate, efficient mission results.
- Conduct thorough preflight and post-flight inspections; clean aircraft interior and exterior after each flight.
- Oversee vendor compliance for fueling and outsourced maintenance; move aircraft in/out of hangars as needed.
- Report aircraft and project status; verify airworthiness, FAA record compliance, and personal currency/medical status.
- Maintain current charts, publications, manuals, and avionics data.
- Adhere to ethical, legal, regulatory, company, SMS, and client requirements at all times.
Training, Leadership & Admin Impact
- Support pilot onboarding, aircraft initial and recurrent training (via third-party provider), IOE, LOFT, remedial training, and group ground modules.
- Contribute to departmental excellence: employment qualifications, hiring procedures, salary/grade structures, performance appraisal, dismissal procedures, employee development, morale initiatives, and team meetings.
- Coordinate with mechanics to track and schedule maintenance on NV5 Geospatial aircraft.
Schedule, Base & Requirements at a Glance
- Base: Sheboygan Falls, WI (HQ) with remote flexibility
- Roster: 16 days ON / 12 days OFF
- Travel: Extensive travel for mission deployments
- License Required: CPL (Single- or Multi-Engine, FAA)
- Total Hours (min): 750
- Medical: FAA Second Class Medical
- Regulatory Experience: At least 1 year as PIC under CFR 14 Part 91, 135, or 121
- Education: High school diploma or GED (Bachelor’s preferred)
What You Bring

- Preferred: CFI, CFII, MEI; ≥1 year as a flight or multiengine instructor; aerial survey experience.
- Preferred Aircraft/Experience: King Air 200, Cessna Conquest II, Cessna Caravan; pressurized turbine and multiengine time; remote flying in Alaska or similar; bachelor’s degree.
