Job summary

The State of Indiana’s Northwest Regional Office seeks an environmental compliance and enforcement staff member within the IDEM to improve air quality and ensure adherence to state and federal laws. Duties include inspections, investigations, evidence gathering, and enforcement actions.

Ideal candidates will apply broad environmental knowledge, perform technical analyses, and communicate findings to diverse stakeholders. Travel is common; a valid Indiana driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

  • Experience applying environmental protection principles and practices.
  • Ability to conduct surveys, inspections and investigations of facilities and sites.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills for reports and regulatory action.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as an environmental expert and provide guidance to stakeholders.
  • Perform project management duties for program area needs.
  • Research state and federal guidance related to permits and enforce permit terms.
  • Conduct inspections, investigations, and enforce compliance actions.
  • Prepare reports and engage in outreach regarding permits and program actions.
  • Travel frequently within assigned geographic area to inspect sites.
