Job summary

Chattanooga-Hamilton County Air Pollution Control Bureau is seeking an experienced Air Pollution Control Engineer II to evaluate industrial and commercial air emission sources for regulatory compliance. You will inspect emissions sources, calculate emissions, and prepare permits with enforceable conditions.

The role involves modeling, regulatory assessments, and coordination with agency officials. Qualifications include a PE license (TN) preferred and VEE certification within 6 months of hire.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Civil or Environmental Engineering with four years of related work experience.
• Professional Engineer license (Tennessee) preferred or ability to obtain.
• Visible Emissions Evaluation Certification within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Calculate actual, potential and allowable emissions using regulatory methods and dispersion modeling.
• Prepare permits with enforceable conditions and review permit applications for accuracy.
• Write technical reports on emissions and regulatory assessments.
• Investigate compliance, regulate testing, and recommend enforcement actions.
• Conduct site inspections and review permit records and emission data.
