Minnehaha County Sheriff's Office is hiring an Air Guard Security Officer to provide armed security for SDANG facilities and assets. The role requires night, day, weekend, and holiday shifts with six-month scheduling cycles.

Expect 12-hour shifts, a night differential, comprehensive benefits, and paid training. Applications are due by 11/4/2026. Position is funded through Sept 2027 with potential extension.

Qualifikationen

• High school diploma or GED required, plus one year of relevant work experience.
• Possession of a valid driver's license with a safe driving record.
• Must successfully complete firearm safety training and the qualifications process, including requalification annually.
• Must pass Air Guard background check, physical fitness test, and vision requirements.
• Must complete pre-employment background process.

Aufgaben

• Provide armed security across entry points, aircraft, hangars, munitions and firearms storage, and sensitive facilities.
• Conduct continuous surveillance, routine security checks, and perimeter patrols to detect intrusions and suspicious activity.
• Maintain and responsibly employ weapons, vehicles, and security equipment to be ready when seconds count.
• Respond decisively to FAA tower calls, intrusion alarms, traffic incidents and investigations, documenting events and enforcing regulations.
• Operate security desk, monitor DSN/commercial lines, fire detection systems, and surveillance cameras; coordinate with police, FAA, and weather alerts.
• Maintain daily blotter, activity logs, inventories, and flightline status boards for real-time leadership insight.
• Brief and dispatch patrols, coordinate responses across installation, and communicate with armed teams.
• Assist civilians and military personnel, conduct building and boiler checks, and uphold a safe environment.
