Job summary

The Custom Companies, Inc. is seeking a dependable Forwarding Operations Specialist for its Air Freight & Expedited Services team in Northlake, IL. This late-shift, hybrid position blends office coordination with hands-on dock duties to support afternoon and evening freight movements.

Responsibilities include tracking shipments, updating TMS records, and coordinating with carriers. Ideal candidates have logistics operations experience and strong problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• Experience in transportation, freight forwarding, warehouse, or logistics operations.
• Knowledge of air freight, expedited transportation, LTL, or distribution operations.
• Ability and willingness to work the Monday–Friday, 12:00 PM–9:00 PM late shift.
• Ability to work in both office and warehouse/dock environments.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily freight forwarding activities from shipment acceptance through final delivery.
• Enter, maintain, and manage shipment information within the Transportation Management System (TMS).
• Monitor shipments in transit and provide proactive status updates.
• Provide hands-on support for daily dock and warehouse activities.
• Coordinate pickups, deliveries, routing, and carrier assignments.
• Support after-hours or emergency transportation needs when necessary.
