Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in agricultural, chemical, civil, environmental, civil-sanitary or mechanical engineering from an accredited college or university.
• In addition to the degree, entry-level Environmental Engineer roles require understanding of environmental regulations and protective measures.
• Ability to perform basic engineering calculations and modeling to assess environmental impacts.

Responsibilities

• Assist with collection of data and inspect facilities to evaluate compliance with regulations.
• Monitor progress of environmental improvement programs and maintain permits and SOPs.
• Prepare and review environmental investigation reports and provide technical support for remediation projects.
• Review engineering plans to recommend ways to reduce environmental impact and support litigation projects.
• Field work and occasional overnight travel may be required.

Job Description:

Under supervision, learns to design, plan or perform engineering duties in the prevention, control and remediation of environmental hazards utilizing various disciplines.

This continuous recruitment pool is assigned to the Tradeport, Atlanta, GA (Clayton County) AIR Branch Office.

Duties and Responsibilities

Under supervision, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties and responsibilities; assist with collection of data; inspect industrial and municipal facilities and programs in order to evaluate operational effectiveness and ensure compliance with regulations; monitor progress of environmental improvement programs; obtain, update, and maintain plans, permits and standard operating procedures; prepare, review, and update environmental investigation and recommendation reports; provide technical-level support for environmental remediation and litigation projects; review and analyze engineering plans to make recommendations to reduce and eliminate environmental impact; perform simple engineering calculations to model or predict flow of contamination; and perform standard engineering studies to ensure compliance with applicable environmental regulations. Field work and occasional overnight travel may be required.

Based on education and experience, the selectee will be hired into one of the below mentioned job codes. Salary is commensurate with education and experience in compliance with State Personnel Board Rules.

Minimum Qualifications

ETP020 – Environmental Engineer 1

Bachelor's degree in agricultural, chemical, civil, environmental, civil-sanitary or mechanical engineering from an accredited college or university.

ETP021 – Environmental Engineer 2

Bachelor's degree in agricultural, chemical, civil, environmental, civil-sanitary or mechanical engineering from an accredited college or university AND One (1) year of experience in professional environmental protection or sanitary engineering work; OR two (2) years of experience at the lower level Environmental Engineer 1(ETP020) or equivalent position.

ETP022 – Environmental Engineer 3

Bachelor's degree in agricultural, chemical, civil, environmental, civil-sanitary or mechanical engineering from an accredited college or university AND Two (2) years of experience in professional environmental or sanitary engineering work OR Two (2) years of experience at the lower level Environmental Engineer 2 (ETP021) or position equivalent.

In addition to Entry Qualifications, Preferred Qualifications may be added by the agency.
