Job summary

SRS Distribution Inc. is seeking an Estimator to produce accurate takeoffs and estimates for Air Distribution projects.

You will follow a standardized estimating workflow, interpret drawings, and collaborate with the TL/PM to ensure timely bids and strong documentation. The role requires attention to detail, experience in construction estimating (preferably HVAC), and proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

• Experience with construction estimating, preferably in HVAC/air distribution or mechanical construction.
• Ability to read construction drawings and specifications.
• Strong attention to detail and comfort working with numbers, quantities, and pricing.
• Organized, deadline-driven, and able to manage multiple estimates at once.
• Clear communicator; able to collaborate with TLs, vendors, and internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Takeoffs & Estimating: complete material takeoffs and cost estimates for assigned AD projects.
• Interpret plans/specifications and identify scope, quantities, and required accessories.
• Apply company standards for pricing, labor assumptions (if applicable), and inclusions/exclusions.
• Flag scope gaps, unclear drawings, or risk items early and request direction as needed.
• Workflow & Process Compliance: follow standardized estimating workflow.
• Maintain organized estimate files, backup documentation, and notes for internal review.
• Use department tools/systems accurately (estimating software, spreadsheets, CRM/ERP).
• Communication & Coordination: communicate status, questions, and risks to TL and coordinate handoffs with PM.
• Provide clear clarifications and supporting detail for estimates.
• Support internal collaboration by responding promptly to requests and keeping stakeholders informed.
• Accuracy & Timeliness: maintain high standard of accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
• Manage workload to meet deadlines and priority levels.
• Participate in internal quality checks and incorporate feedback to reduce rework.
• Training & Continuous Improvement: participate in training, coaching, and skills development.

Position Overview

The Estimator is responsible for producing accurate, timely takeoffs and estimates for Air Distribution projects. This role follows standardized estimating workflows, communicates clearly with the Team Lead (TL) and Project Manager (PM), and supports continuous improvement through training and process refinement.

Core Responsibilities

• Takeoffs & Estimating Complete material takeoffs and cost estimates for assigned AD projects.
• Interpret plans/specifications and identify scope, quantities, and required accessories.
• Apply company standards for pricing, labor assumptions (if applicable), and inclusions/exclusions.
• Flag scope gaps, unclear drawings, or risk items early and request direction as needed.
• Workflow & Process Compliance Follow the department’s standardized estimating workflow (intake → takeoff → quote build → review → submission).
• Maintain organized estimate files, backup documentation, and notes for internal review and future reference.
• Use department tools/systems accurately (estimating software, spreadsheets, CRM/ERP, shared folders, etc.).
• Communication & Coordination Communicate status, questions, and risks to the TL and coordinate handoffs with the Project Manager when projects move from bid to execution.
• Provide clear clarifications and supporting detail for estimates (assumptions, alternates, exceptions, timelines).
• Support internal collaboration by responding promptly to requests and keeping stakeholders informed.
• Accuracy & Timeliness Maintain a high standard of accuracy, completeness, and consistency in takeoffs and estimates.
• Manage workload to meet deadlines and priority levels established by the TL.
• Participate in internal quality checks and incorporate feedback to reduce rework.
• Training & Continuous Improvement Participate in training, coaching, and skills development (products, systems, best practices).
• Contribute ideas to improve estimating templates, checklists, and workflows.
• Maintain awareness of product changes, vendor updates, and typical field issues impacting estimates.

Qualifications

• Experience with construction estimating, preferably in HVAC/air distribution or mechanical construction (preferred).
• Ability to read construction drawings and specifications.
• Strong attention to detail and comfort working with numbers, quantities, and pricing.
• Organized, deadline-driven, and able to manage multiple estimates at once.
• Clear communicator; able to collaborate with TLs, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
• Experienced with Microsoft Office and estimating/CRM tools (as applicable).
• Knowledge of HVAC equipment.
• Knowledge of HVAC Systems.
• High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate) (optional).

The base salary for this position typically falls within the range of $59,600.00 to $77,400.00 annually. Starting wage may vary based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, the position being offered, location, education, training, and/or experience.
