The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking an Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic for the Bronx VA Medical Center. This role involves installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining HVAC&R systems. Candidates must have EPA certification and relevant experience.
This position serves as an Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic within the Facilities Management Service at the Bronx VA Medical Center. The Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic is responsible for installing, troubleshooting, performing preventative maintenance, and repairing all HVAC&R (heating, ventilating, air conditioning, and refrigeration) equipment and controls.

EPA Approved CFC Universal Certification: In accordance with Section 608 of the Clean Air Act, this position requires a valid Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Technician Certification (Type I, II, and III or Universal Certification) through an EPA approved technician program.
EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Evidence which demonstrates you possess the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of this position must be supported by detailed descriptions of such on your resume. Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualification Standards.
Experience includes paid and unpaid work, volunteer work through programs like Peace Corps, AmeriCorps, and other organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical skills and provides valuable training and experience relevant to this role. All qualifying experience, including volunteer work, will be credited.
SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT: Your qualifications will be initially evaluated against the screen out element, typically question 1 in the online questionnaire.
