The work of a Ramp Agent includes the following responsibilities:
- Loading and unloading cargo (mail, express, freight, and company material) on and off aircraft.
- Transporting cargo between terminals and aircraft.
- Performing ramp transfers of cargo as required.
- Receiving, delivering, and physically handling freight and company material, including export at designated express docks.
- Completing forms and messages related to these functions.
- Transporting furnishings and supplies to and from aircraft.
- Assisting in loading, unloading, and racking both filled and empty drums.
- Performing routine cleaning of work areas, ramps, and facilities, with or without powered equipment.
- Monitoring facility security as assigned.
- Performing routine automotive repairs, servicing, and cleaning of equipment.
- Complying with site security procedures and reporting security issues.
Responsibilities
- Perform functions in variable weather and environmental conditions, including jet engine fumes, dust, and noise.
- Load and unload aircraft cargo weighing up to 70 lbs. and push, pull, and position containers up to 3,200 lbs.
- Drive vehicles with gross weights from 3,000 to 80,000 lbs. in congested areas, requiring good depth perception and color recognition.
- Assist in aircraft push-out, guiding vehicles and communicating with cockpit as needed.
- Transport cargo using vehicles up to 3,000 lbs., navigating through congested areas.
- Read off-load sheets to determine cargo destinations.
- Engage in ground-to-cockpit communication during push-out and towing functions.
- Connect and disconnect water hoses and electric cables to/from aircraft.
Minimum Requirements
- HS Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- At least 18 years of age.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and spoken.
Preferred Skills
- Ability to work rotating shifts, including weekends, holidays, and days off.
Physical Requirements / Working Conditions
- Ability to work in a high-noise environment.
- Pulling, pushing, and lifting bags weighing up to 70 lbs.
