Job summary

Katy ISD is seeking a paraprofessional aide to support teachers by assisting with instructional needs, data collection, accommodations, and IEP-related supports. The role requires working with students, managing classroom activities, and maintaining confidentiality in a fast-paced school setting.

Position involves assisting with data collection, implementing accommodations, and providing personal care as defined by student IEPs, with Title I requirements differing by campus.

Responsibilities

• Additional SHARS duties as assigned.
• Provide Personal Care as identified in IEPs.

Qualifications:

College hours, high school diploma or GED for Non-Title I campus

Please Note: Additional Qualification for Title I Campus:

College hours, 48 minimum or a score of 464 on the ParaPro test

Primary Purpose:

Assist the teacher with instructional needs as appropriate

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Assist teachers with the preparation, implementation, and data collection of student academic, behavioral, and functional goals, accommodations, modifications, and delivery of supports
2. Deliver accommodations, modifications, and other supports to students with special education services in whole group, small group, or individually, as described in the IEP.
3. Assist teachers with classroom management and behavioral plans. Perform other duties as assigned.
4. Maintain confidential student records.
5. Other SHARS Duties as assigned.
6. Provide Personal Care as identified in applicable student IEPs.

Working Conditions:

Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom or adaptive equipment. May be required to lift and position students with physical disabilities; control behavior through physical restraint; and assist nonambulatory students. Expose to biological hazards.
